I put in a new timing belt but when i start engine there is no sprocket do you know what causes it?

have the OBD codes read you may have left a lead off somewhere the code reader should point you in the right direction , dont want to alarm you but if the timing belt breaks whilst engine running it will almost certainly cause some sort of damage so might not be as simple as no spark

I broke my timing belt on a 1994 mightymax and want to know if i can just put new belt on or did i bend valves

no they dont clear they hit the piston. it all depends on how fast the engine was running to how much damage has been done. sometimes it can just be a bent valve. or a set of them. or at worst the pistons are damaged. on some occasions it would just be a auto adjuster damaged you will not be able to tell till the new belt is fitted. will tap alot.

1991 Mazda Miata 1.6l timing belt broke.

You need to purchase a Haynes Manual or better. They are very common in your nearest chain part store. Like Autozone, Advance, Napa. More than likely you will have to set the crankshaft at TDC. "top dead center" and allign the two marks with the cam shaft! Watch when you put tension on the belt it will move the camshaft sprocket! And throw it back out of time.

My Volvo S40 timing belt broke when replced with a new one

its either not been fitted correctly ( im not saying you dont know what your doing ) or a faulty belt ( unlikely ) check every pulley and make sure they spin freely ( except crank and cam obviously ) if 1 of the pulleys is jammed. theres your problem

My serpentine belt broke drove car 30 miles home without belt, got a new belt put it on cranked car up took for test drive got back opened hood realised the exhaust manifold was red hot. Turned A/c off...

  • Well, that belt drives everything including the water pump. When the belt broke and you drove it no coolant circulated and the exhaust glowed from overheating. A red glowing manifold usually only happens from excessive heat caused from modified engines. But in this case this is almost surely what happened. You are lucky you did not blow your engine. Park it and let it cool down for a few hours.

probably not, unless you were going mach 2. chances are though, that it broke on start up like most do. buy a new belt and a cheap haines manual, have a little adventure, and your little suby will feel like your own more than ever. if you have any trouble, contact me through fixya, and i'll help you with the replacement. I just love them subarus!

My serpentine belt broke and now i dont know how to put a new one back on

buy a new serpentine belt and refer to the diagram on the box. it will show you how to route the belt. also, there is a belt tensioner. it can be pulled back with a large prybar so you can slip the belt on the pulley.

I broke my timing belt on my 2000 hyundai accent i took off the timing belt cover and the belt was mangled and the line up marks were off i then took the plugs out and found out that my forth plug was...

Hard to say. Depends on how fast the engine was running when it broke. Sounds like pretty fast from the belt getting mangled, right? You can put a new belt on and see if the engine will turn. If not, you know you've at least got some bent valves that are not seating. You can also loosen all of the rockers to see if that will let the engine turn--then you wouldn't have to buy a new belt before deciding whether or not to fix the motor.
