SOURCE: which order do the push rods go in for 1999

Well check them and see if there the same ,,
If they are then it dosent make any differance were they go but if they are not the same then check the rockers and you might find the rockers on inlet are shorter than the exhaust,
Put in the holes push down to cam follower and rest against rocker and it should rest about were the cup on push rod Sits.

The only thing I can recommend is to go to a self serve auto dismantler and take off the head and look. A camera might be useful too.

Lay your pushrods in a row exactly like you removed them and work backwards to install them if you want each pushrod to set with its original lifter.

98 oldsmobile achieva front head push rod order

You are thinking too hard.

It is VERY simple. The Intake valve push rods (marked with ORANGE paint) are shorter than the exhaust valve push rods (marked with BLUE paint) If you cannot see the paint, you can always stand them up next to each other...it is pretty obvious which ones are which.

BOTH heads are EXACTLY the same - they are interchangeable. It is just that one is turned one way and the other is turned the other way so the exhaust and intake ports will be on the correct sides. (intake port towards the center of engine, exhaust port to the outboard sides of the engine.) You do not need to go searching the internet for some "order". All you have to do is LOOK AT THE HEAD to tell which valve is intake and which valve is exhaust.

So then it is as simple as: Put the short push rods on the intake and the long push rods on the exhaust....

Intake pushrods have yellow stripes and are approximately 5.75" long. Exhausts have green stripes and are about 6" long.

Valve arrangement:

I don't know that you will find a "diagram" like what you are asking for, but I can tell you that the longer pushrods go on the Exhaust Valves and the shorter ones go on the Intake Valves.

I have a 1999 Buick Century V6 3100 that I had to replace the intake gaskets due to antifreeze leaking into and out of the engine. When I had it all apart I noticed the very first lifter #2 cylinder...

If the engine oil was full of antifreeze when the intake gasket went bad, then there is a good chance that there may be some cam and/or lifter damage. A more likely cause of your problem would be that the push rods got mixed up when you put it back together. The intake and exhaust rods are different lengths. If this is the case, and you have turned the engine over, there is a good chance that you now also have a bent pushrod and intake valve. The exhaust pushrod is the longer one and if you mix them up, the piston will contact the intake valve because it will not be able to close due to the longer pushrod. This will bend or break the pushrod and bend the valve stem.

Pushrods installation

There are 2 different sizes and if they are mixed up, you will bend valves. Be careful. The intake valves are 5.6" long and the exhaust are 6" long. Tighten the rocker arms down and you're good to go. Let me know if you need anything else.

Roller lifter adjustment 5.7 chevy vortec 1999

Crank the engine until the mark on the damper aligns with the TDC mark on the timing tab and the engine is in #1 firing position.

To adjust a valve back off the adjusting nut until lash is felt at the pushrod. Tighten the nut until all lash is removed. This can be determined by rotating the pushrods with your fngers. When all lash is removed the pushrod will stop rotating. When all play is removed rotate the nut one full turn.

With the engine in #1 firing position the following valves can be adjusted:
Exhaust 1,3,4,8
Intake 1,2,5,7

Crank engine one full revolution - The following valves can now be adjusted:
Exhaust 2,5,6,7
Intake 3,4,6,8

On the 92 chevy lumina eurosport 3.1 push rods on the heads you gave the configurations but no matter which way I put them in the long is too long but the short is too short. also when I tighten them down...

the euro sport is the same as the lumina base just with a body kit, stiffer suspension, and dual exhaust.

but on the 3.1 engine the pushrods are all the same length, but depending on the stroke each cylinder is on the pushrod may be in a different position.

you are assuming that every pushrod should be in the rest state. that is not true. if the cylinder you are installing the pushrod for is on the intake stroke when you install the intake valve pushrod and tighten the rocker arm nut the valve will procede to open like it should be open for the intake stroke.

this is normal and its nothing wrong with it.
