You don't. The headlamp assembly is a sealed unit. If you were to remove just the lens it would be almost impossible to seal it. If air or moisture gots inside that assembly the bulb will blow. The best way is to replace the whole assembly but since it's a Volvo you may emd up having to go to the dealer. Check online for some aftermarket ones but make sure they have been in business for awhile as you don't want anything that's gonna make your car look worse even if they will be new. wish I had better news for you but hope it helped you some. Good luck.

Need to clean front lights lens - how do you take off the lens?

The front headlight "lens" is part of the headlight assembly. If the exterior of the lens is what you need to clean because it is oxidized or pitted, then you have at least 2 options:

1) replace the assembly - you can buy them on the internet for about $70 a pair. There are youtube videos that show how to replace them. It is a job for almost any skill level. Here is one youtube video I watched before replacing my headlights.

2) Buff the lens using one of the headlight polishing kits you can buy at Autozone or Walmart. Kits are about $20. I polished my headlights and they looked great, but re-oxidized quickly.I found replacing them was a better long-term option. There are also youtube videos showing you how to do this.

How do I adjust the head lights on my 2001 pontac montana?

i am not sure what you mean by "adjusting" your headlights. If you mean like aiming; you can't. there is just simply a small bulb inside with a plastic lens cover. Now if you are having visibility problems your plastic covers may be oxidized. you can buy a cleaning kit at any car parts store. MacGuires makes a great product as does Armour- All. These are simple rubbing compounds and are easy to use and apply a protection coat as they clean. You don't really need any power tools to use these products but u buffing wheel used lightly will make your job easier any somewhat clearer.

My head lights are very fogged i bought the restoration kit but cant figure out how to take off the cover to apply the soulution

Those restoration kits are only for the outside of the lenses. They oxidize and you use that kit to remove oxidation. If the haze is on the inside you need to replace the entire housing. They're sealed from the factory. Some people have tried to disassemble and clean insides but the success rate is very low.

Can the factory headlight lens covers on a 2001 Mercury Cougar be removed and cleaned ? I can remove the entire healight assembly and change the bulbs, but the inside of the healight cover is dirty and...

The lincoln LS had the same problems, and the lens was held to the headlight assembly with a sticky glue.
To remove them, some guys were successful by warming the headlight assembly in the oven untill the glue softened up enough to be pulled apart.
Be careful if you try this, to much head and..oops I melted my headlight

How to remove the lens cover (headlights) in order to clean them

Those assemblies are not meant to come apart. You can purchase a head light resurfacing kit at Auto Zone or any other Auto parts stop. It takes a little time but it works well.

How do you remove headlight cover on a rx300 to clean?

First of all, the best if to NOT remove the covers if you are really talking about the plastic lenses on the headlights. They are glued on with a special adhesive, and usually you will break them into millions of pieces before you can get them off. Specially that its very very rare that the lenses need cleaning from the inside since the inside doesn't see much dust or sand or anything. If you need to clean them because they are now yellowish and/or hazy and don't let enough light out anymore, best bet if to just go buy some headlight lens restoring compoound, which can be bought at most car part stores, and i do believe Wal-Mart sells some also. With that stuff you need 2000 grain sand paper to do the rough of the job, and finish up with the paste/compound you bought to get them all nice and shiny again. If you do the job right it usually brings back at least 80% transparency and will have cost you around 20$ US in the worst case. If not, best bet would be to buy aftermarket OEM replacements like the TYC company sells. Usually though they go for about 100$ each, and if you replace both left and right your looking at more or less 200$, so its alot more expensive, but you will have brand new headlights that will last longer and give more light than using the paste/compound i was talking about.

Cloudy lens

all you need to do is go to a pro auto paint store and pick up some "rubbing compound" it's like a wax. You "waxon"  - "waxoff" with a circular motion. It will remove the oxidation off of your plastic light cover. No need to remove.
