A flashing service engine light indicates a severe misfire. There are lot of things that can cause a misfire like this. How long has it been since this vehicle has had a tune up? The fuel filter should be replaced every two years and the spark plugs/spark plug wires should be replaced every sixty thousand miles. Auto Zone will scan your engine computer for free *except in CA* and tell you what the codes are. Post the codes here for more help.

Gear box making niose

May seem obvious but its your gear box, if you can successfully shift into first, slowly release clutch without hitting the gas your engine should slowly wind down and bog out, if it does it immediately without a winddown it could be clutch but generally any grinding when slipping into gear is a sign your gearbox needs replacing

Code 12 means you are in test mode, code 34 is a problem with the map sensor, and code 35 is a problem with the idle control valve.
But those two codes could show up if you disconnect those sensors or if the engine is having other problems.
In situations where the engine stalls, it is very easy to overlook something or assume a component is working.
Treat it like a no start. Pull a plug wire and watch the spark as the engine dies. Use carb cleaner or starting fluid to boost fuel supply.
You'll have to figure out if it is loosing spark or fuel to proceed.
Things like the coil, the stator in the bottom of the dist, or a relay can be the cause. Even low fuel pressure.

I have a 2005 GMC pickup with the 4.3L vortec motor. When I go up hills the motor bogs down and the check engine light flashes about 15 to 20 times then goes off. Recently it stayed on for a day but i went...

If the light was on and then went off, the code will still be stored in the computer. Getting the codes read is always the first step to avoid guessing. Also, driving with a flashing check engine light is a great way to damage the catalytic converter...very expensive part.

Starts good but bogs out in gear

Tuned-up lately, like new plugs & wires? Check EGR Valve, and also cycle key to retrieve any trouble codes that may be stored that will point you /us in right direction, and let us know what came up. Turn key to on, off,on,off,on, and leave in on position & count flashes of "check engine" light. goes like this: 2 flashes, pause, 2 more is code 22. 3 flashes, pause 4 more, is code 34........write them down & get back.

2000 grand am bogs engine light flashes stays on for awhile then goes off

The flashing light is indicating an "over fueling" condition that can cause damage to the catalytic converter.
A defective or stuck injector is typically the root cause.
Take the vehicle to your local Auto Zone and ask to have the trouble codes read. Write the codes down and respond back to me, we can get started on fixing the issue.
