My 98 mustang cobra was being stored and occasionally driven by my daughter. It started clattering at1800 rpm. When she checked the oil it was 3.5 qts low. There is no evidence of it burning oil or of a leak. I don't know how long it was low. She changed the oil and it still has the noise, it sounds like the top end in the right side. Any thoughts?

Thatt's an awful lot of oil. Hopefully it might be just some lifter noise. You might try an additive to clean the oil. I would also think of doing a complete service and check up on the Mustang.

first thing is check fuel pressure. or blow thru the fuel filter to see if its clogged. If the filter is OK you still need to check pressure.
