I just rebuild my F4A51 transmission an It feels like the brakes are on can this be in the valve body an a pressure problem?

I don't know where you can get a free diagram, but there is a pretty good video on youtube of a guy disassembling the valve body of a 4l60e. Just go to youtube and search for 4l60e.

Dodge Ram 3500 skips from 1st to 3rd gear, had rebuild after still the same issue. Any advice?

Governor pressure controls the 1st and 2nd shifts. After that is the 3 and 4 solenoids. you would need to look at the pressure when driving(takes a scanner). pressure is 20 to 30 PSI from 1st to 2nd, depends on acceleration. After that the pressure will jump to 100+ psi. Did you replace the governor solenoid and sensor? They are on the passenger side of the transmission and sit in a block that detaches from the valve body.

1995 van. Why doe it only drive in reverse?

Could be shift linkage or major transmission problem a tech could tell you if you need a transmission

Are 700r4 valve bodies replaceable?

If ur familiar with 700R4. The transmission is still good. What the problem is and they all do it. Remove the front pump and replace the front clutches and it will go into O/D

Worn shuttle valves in the valve body causing pressure to build slowly or worn clutch plates. Time for a rebuild.

2005 nissan frontier problem code 1757 and 1759

ObdII Code 1757 means the transmission oil could be burned or the oil pan has excessive dirt in it. There could be internal transmission damage. However, other things that throw that code include a faulty Governor Pressure Sensor, a Faulty Governor Pressure Solenoid, a Faulty Valve Body, an engine Control Module (ECM) 5 volt supply, a 5 volt supply circuit could be open, a 5 volt supply circuit could be open inside the transmission, or a - Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM).

On the other hand, a Code 1759 means a possible faulty Front Brake Solenoid Valve, or a front Brake Solenoid Valve harness is open or shorted, or a Front Brake Solenoid Valve circuit with a poor electrical connection.

P1763 - Governor Pressure Sensor Voltage Too High

This code is refer for the governor pressure sensor which is located in the valve body of the transmission. If getting power to the sensor and the wires are not open or shorted then the sensor will need to be replaced.


Hoist and support vehicle on safety stands.
Remove transmission fluid pan and filter.
Disengage wire connectors from pressure sensor and solenoid (see picture)
Remove screws holding pressure solenoid retainer to governor body.
Separate solenoid retainer from governor (see picture)
Pull solenoid from governor body
Pull pressure sensor from governor body.
Remove bolts holding governor body to valve body.
Separate governor body from valve body
Remove governor body gasket.

Before installing the pressure sensor and solenoid in the governor body, replace O-ring seals, clean the gasket surfaces and replace gasket.

Place gasket in position on back of governor body
Place governor body in position on valve body.
Install bolts to hold governor body to valve body.
Lubricate O-ring on pressure sensor with transmission fluid.
Align pressure sensor to bore in governor body.
Push pressure sensor into governor body.
Lubricate O-ring, on pressure solenoid, with transmission fluid.
Align pressure solenoid to bore in governor body
Push solenoid into governor body.
Place solenoid retainer in position on governor
Install screws to hold pressure solenoid retainer to governor body.
Engage wire connectors into pressure sensor and solenoid Install transmission fluid pan and (new) filter.
Lower vehicle and road test to verify repair.

Reverse gear almost dead in 1998 Lantra auto..

You have a bad O-ring seal in the valve body of your transmission. The reason you barely move when you rev high, is because the trans fluid isnt going to the correct part of the valve body due to the bad seal. This should be a repair you can do yourself if you have any mechanical experience, OR a transmission shop may be able to rebuild the valve body for you.

sound like you have a sticky valve body
you will need to put a cleaner in the trans
i recomen a product made by Sea foam called trans tune.
this would be your first step
let us know how it turns out
there are magic cures in a can but this will unstick valves and alow them to open completely
when you hear a noise in your trans its the sound of high pressure blowing threw your valve bodyand or pump over pressure

Auto box issue

I have an applicator chart that says 1992-1996 Diamante only had 3.0 ltr engine available,and the chart also says that the 3.5ltr was only available from 1997-2004.So either my chart is wrong,or you have a LATE 1996 that is actually a 1997.Either way,my chart says the 3.0 ltr engines used an F4A33-1 auto trans and the 3.5ltr's used an F4A51 trans.You ust recheck your vehicle to verify all the specifications.I would rebuild the trans that's in there,but i am a transmission rebuilder.Getting a used trans is kind of iffy,as you may be getting junk or a high mileage trans.As far as interchange,contacting a junkyard is the best way to go as they have interchange manuals.I would try and stay with the same year model and same vehicle.My chart says that the F4A51 also came in 96-05 Eclipse's...will it work in your Diamante?I don't know.I do know that an 05 trans won't work in your 96 model. Best way to go is rebuild your trans,or get one from a remanufacturer like Jasper Engines and Transmissions.
