The bolt in the center of the harmonic balancer is right hand threaded. (normal). It's a whole lot easier to use either an air impact gun or an electric impact gun because the crank shaft has a tendency to want to turn with the bolt. (Lefty Loosey).

You usually turn it to the right to install, depending on the make model and year.

Harmonic balancer bolt on 2001 impala

Looking at the front of the engine, the harmonic balancer turns clockwise when running. You will need to turn the bolt anti clockwise as it is a normal right hand thread.

Working on Honda Prelude 1992 with a 2.2 motor can't get bolt off crankshaft pulley wanting to know if it is left or right handed threads

It is standard thread (right handed) and a little more information if you need it: there is a hole on the rear of the block on the drivers side located just behind the rear balance shaft so you can lock your engine #1 cylinder @ TDC with a 6mmX100mm bolt or screwdriver. there is a hole machined into the balance shaft that holds everything still so you can get done....I would also recommend the use of an impact....IT IS TIGHT!!!

YOU HAVE RIGHT HAND THREADS.ENGINE TURNING CLOCKWISE.YOU NEED A STRAP WRENCH HOLD CRANKSHAFT PULLEY WHILE LOOSEN IT.BUT YOU NEED A CRANKSHAFT DAMPER REMOVAL TOOL.OR HARMONIC BALANCER REMOVAL TOOL.YOU NEED STRAP WRENCH TO HOLD CRANKSHAFT PULLEY WHEN TIGHTEN IT.TORQUE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT 90 - 98 FT LBS. MAKE JOB EASIER.HAVE A HELPER HOLD STRAP WRENCH WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN CRANKSHAFT PULLEY.

The bolt is right hand thread. I do believe it is adjustable. But you can readjust it if needed after the balance is installed from the bottom.
