My 1995 Nissan pick up truck failed the emission test from NOx oxides of nitrogen. The standard is 3.00 mine was 3.26, what could be the problem, is it the EGR valve?

NOX is formed from high pressure and temperature above 2500 degrees. The job of the egr is to recirculate exaust back into the cylinder to give it a cooler charge (exhaust wont burn). Make sure your cooling system is up to par and clean your egr with some carb cleaner and make sure the passages are clear. egr valves and passages get very dirty

Engine running rich after emissions check

Hi,
Your oxygen sensor is designed to send a signal to the engine, telling it to burn more or less lean as determined by the oxygen in the exaust. This may be your culprit.
I hope this helps... Good luck.
