The arm rest on the door panel should have two 10mm bolts and a screw that holds it in place, be sure those are removed then use either a putty knife or flat tip screw driver or just your hands to pull the door panel push pins out, they are attached inside the door panel, just pull the door panel by the pins and should come off, if they break you can get new ones at any auto parts store or hardware store.

I'm guessing by the year that you have pretty high mileage on your SUV. If that is the case then you will probably need to rebuild front end. that should take care of the problem. Good luck.

Ac is blowing out of defrosterandnot panels in the dash. Air is cool cold air will blow out of rear seat panel/vent 1998 ford explored

The most common cause is a bad blend door actuator which controls air flow throughout the cabin. When air flow only flows from 1 section (either floor, vent, or defrost) it's an indication that the blend door actuator is either stuck or broken.

My 1998 ford explorer blows one temperature hot air whenever it is on. It does this when the air conditioner is on also. It just blows hot air all the time.

Sounds like the temp door actuator is bad or the blend door is broke that the actuator is connected to. It is located behind the glove box.

your 98 ford explorer is a solid dependable suv. They do have a history of transmission problems so have your fluid and filter changed regularly I have an explorerer and a gmc jimmy and the ride and handling of the explorer is superior. You made a good choice

I have a whining noise in the differential of a 1998 ford explorer. There isn't any play from side to side. Can this rearend be shimmed?

You probably are having pinion bearing problems. It seems that ford had some rearend problems with some of there trucks and suv's.

you will have to remove the door panel, check for a disconnected linkage or a broken door latch, sometimes it just needs cleaning and lube, good luck.
