Question about 1995 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

I have a 1995 Nissan altima and it does not want to start. The engine turns over, but it just cranks and cranks and after about 30-60 seconds, it will catch and crank. could this be a starter issue or a spark plug issue, or could it be something else?

95 NISSAN ALTIMA TURNS OVER WONT START AIR FILTER SMOKING

Its probably back-firing in the intake - which means it is firing early or the fuel mixture is very lean.
This engine uses a distributor cap and rotor, so I would start there and make sure the cylinders are firing correctly.
If the ignition checks out ok, it could be a problem with the cam timing.

2005 altima 2.5s Check engine light is on, If for some reason you don't start it on the first try, it has a hard time starting unless you pump the gas pedal while turning key. Takes about 2-3 seconds to...

There is a known issue with the crank/cam sensors. They are on there third update from Nissan. The normal symptom is an extended crank and occasional rough running. Knowing what code is turning on the check engine light will seal the deal on whether or not its the cam/crank sensors.

My 1995 nissan altima wont start, it has power but wont do anything when you turn the key. What could be the problem?

I am assuming that the starter will not crank over when you turn the key.It sounds like the starter solenoid is toast.Get a meter and see if there is power to the solenoid when you turn the key.It will be the smaller gauge wire .If you have power to the solenoid and you get no cranking then you will have to replace the starter(they are one unit)

When i try to start my 2003 2.5 altima i have to

3 to 5 seconds is not really excessive. You might, however, want to try this...depress the gas petal to the floor then turn the ignition while slowly raising you foot off the accelerator. If this helps start the car the check engine light is probably indicating an oxegen sensor problem.
