Question about 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

1 Answer

Ering 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

I drive frequently relative to my work. I've logged 52,000 miles. I recently brought my vehicle into the dealership for regularly scheduled maintenance. After picking it up, I immediately noticed the vehicle literally drifted as if I was driving on a windy day - though there was no wind. I have to compensate for this effect to control the vehicle. It is very tiring on long trips, not to mention harrowing on a rainy and windy day when I cannot safely reach highway speeds without risking loss of control. I'm accustomed to really moving in this vehicle, so this is highly uncharacteristic for it. I did take the vehicle back to the dealership, and they tightened things up, i.e., struts, front suspension, but didn't drive the vehicle long enough or fast enough to get the full effect of what I was describing. I never had this problem in all the miles I've driven this vehicle - it just started after the last maintenance. So, I'm nowhere with the dealership. The problem persists and I have to drive close to 1000 miles this week - which won't be easy. I no longer enjoy driving because it really feels like the vehicle has a life of its own. Any help you can offer would be most appreciated.

Thanks so much, Lee, for the prompt reply. I don't for a minute think they tightened anything, and doubted it would do anything anyway. And it didn't. I'll be going back there this week before my next road trip, and I thank you for giving me some grist for the mill.

    Best wishes.

It sounds like you need a 4 wheel alignment they must have messed up the alignment and tightening things will not fix that you can take it anywhere that can do a 4 wheel alignment though I would make sure the dealership pays for it.
Thanks,
Lee

Did you actually see them tighten anything? They will do/say that just so they don't have to do any real work.
Good luck and keep me posted.
    Thanks,
    Lee

You are very welcome if you have a moment to accept and rate the solution I would greatly appreciate it. Also feel free to keep me updated as to how it went. Don't take any guff I'm sure you payed quite a bit for your vehicle and shouldn't have to settle for inferior ride quality because of a mechanics bad maintenance.
    Thanks and good luck,
    Lee

Also I would also let them know that is added wear to your tires which you don't/won't appreciate when your replacing them prematurely.
    Thanks,

Need timing belt diagram for an 07 toyota fj

I would try to Google it first. A lot of people post the diagrams on line. I take it that the diagram is not on your fan shroud, another place to try is the dealership.

This may sound rather "simple"... But, most vehicles have a inline fuse (or a fuse in the buss) for their equipment.

I had the same thing happen yesterday. I took it to the dealer, and they said the Catalytic Converter was bad and they needed to order a new one. You should take it to the dealer.
