Gas gauge is not working on a 2001 ford ranger edge 3.0L

The most common issue is that the fuel tank fuel level sending unit is defective. Before having the tank pulled to replace the level sensor have the problem checked to confrim my guess is correct.

I have a 1983 Ford Ranger Base 4Cyl. 2.3L and I'm trying to find out how to install a new fuel sending unit

The fuel sending unit is in the gas tank. You have to drop the tank to replace it.
Be careful when you lower the tank, not to break any fuel lines.
About the center of the tank where the fuel lines were attatched to, is the sending unit. There should be a locking ring holding it in place.
Take a screw driver and hammer and gently tap the tabs on the ring counterclockwise to loosen it, then just pull out the unit. You might have to twist it a little to get it. Good luck.

No its not. Drain the system a bit, remove the housing, remove the thermostat, put in the new one, replace the gasket, put the housing back, top up the system.

  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Disconnect the radiator hose and the electrical connector.
  3. Disconnect the radiator lower hose.
  4. Remove the bolts and the thermostat housing.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the housing bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

Hope helps (remember to rate and comment this).

The piece you are describing sounds like the thermostat housing. These housings are normally bolted to the manifold, so you can simply unbolt it. If it is cracked, you will need to replace it. If it is not, you can replace the gasket underneath it and reinstall it.

Ford ranger 2002 6 4.0 LTR truck over heating.

The water is from the thermostat housing, fairly common leak. The ticking maybe from the timing chain cassette. You may have already had the cam timing slip (the cam gears are not keyed, they are held in place by torque alone. The oil gauge sounds like an electrical problem (either sender or sender wiring).

Overheating 02 ford ranger

the cooling system has to be bled. Did you bleed the cooling system ? first you fill the radiator with coolant and water. Then turn on the engine and and run to operating temperature. Most cars have a bleeding screw located at the thermostat housing. Turn of the engine and with a fairl long screwdriver turn the screw counter clockwise and remove the air until coolant is the only thing coming out. Refill and repeat procedure.Refill with coolant until full. Be careful not to burn yourself with the steam coming out with the air.
