Take back wheel off, pull brake drum and replace broken springs & misc parts that are more than likely jammed in there.

are you in four wheel low or four wheel hi. if you are in four lo, put vehicle in neutral before trying to shift out and be at a complete stop. if you were in four hi, put vehicle in reverse and keep backing up, usually 4wd while come out and go back into 2wd

Is there anyway to unhook the 4 wheel drive on a dodge durango? My 4low is stuck and I have tried putting it in neutral and then putting it in reverse. I dont really need the 4 wheel drive so I would
Try backing up about 5 feet, put the transmission in neutral, then putting the transfer case (4x4 lever) into neutral or out of 4low.

1998 ford ranger wont reverse, the right real wheel wont spin but the left real wheel spin. It can only drive forward but not in reverse. Please help us on how to do it yourself.
either brakes are seized or the wheel bearing is seized. most likely the brakes are what seizes up. just jackup, and take tire off to check it out. it maybe a stuck brake, rust or dirt, or maybe a broken spring or two. good- day ! but first reach in back of tire and pull on the e-brake cable a few times at the problem wheel, it may be binding.

Good morning, my 1994 Lexus ES300 driver's side wheel don't turn when putting in drive or reverse, but the passenger side dose. when replacing one of the crank sensor on back of tranny it started to work...

Thank You for using FixYa. Kindly follow the instructions: Put the truck in neutral, have your foot on the brake, switch it out of 4LO and wait up to 10 seconds or so. If this doesn't work, put it in drive or reverse, move a foot or two, then put it back into neutral and try again. I bet it will work. If you're not in neutral, the drive train is still being torque by the engine. If your foot isn't on the brake, I think it electrically prevents the switch out of 4 LO from happening. If it is stuck in, I might suggest you've got gearbox windup. Jacking up a front wheel might let it come undone.

If the actuator still sticks, I think there's an override on the transfer case. It has a dial with positions. You'll need a 1/2" Ratchet to work it.

I ran across this problem with another vehicle....try putting it in another position (2 wheel high, 4 wheel high) and rocking it from drive to reverse, drive to reverse. Also try backing up at a pretty good clip and stepping on the brakes hard.....hope this works for you.

Ford explorer stuck in low 4wheel drive
put it back into 2 wheel drive, then reverse 10 or 15 feet, this should unlock the hubs.

I have an automatic 4x4 it drives fine but will not reverse. Is this a gearbox problem ar something minor?
i have an 86' trooper and i put it into 4 wheel drive one day and reversed and it got stuck and wouldn't move until i put it back into 2-wheel drive and drove forward

the rule is your not supposed to back up when in 4x4 drive it's bad for the axles so when backing up put it into 2-wheel unless it's a major emergency. it's bad on all 4x4 cars, unless it's an awd car :] hopefully this helped
