I changed the oil myself on my 2001 subaru forester - everything seemed fine for a little bit (meaning I drove it about 15 miles or so)- then the engine started to sound funny. Noticed there was a t

If the oil level on the engine dipstick is correct, and you used the correct oil, then it is unlikely that you have done anything to damage you engine, however it is normal to also change the oil filer when you change the oil, did you do this. How did you check that the transmission oil was at the correct level and how did you top it up. If the oil has been regularly changed at the correct interval, and the engine has not done huge miles, then it is unlikely that you need to do an engine flush. It is easy to do yourself, as you use an engine flushing oil, run the engine for a short time, and then drain this and put regular oil back into it.

Time for an Oil Change?

All you Isuzu owners out there, if you know that your Isuzu Petrol or Diesel is ready for a oil change or is coming up for and oil change. Then what I'm about to share and tell you about will save you time, money and not too mention the headaches, in the year or years to come.

This is one little unknown fact has cost and caused millions of people around the world time, money and headaches.

If you don't change your oil and oil filter when you are suppose too, then the engine damage cycle has all ready begun!!!!!!!!!!

Too many people think that just because your motor has oil in it that its ok........WRONG !!!!!!!!
If you are chopping and changing your oil everytime and not sticking to the manufacturers specifications then the engine damage cycle has begun.

So if you want trouble free motoring in regards to problems caused from the lubrication systems then heres a couple of very important things you must consider when you next do a oil change.

1. Make sure you have the correct oil with the correct specifications for your engine model...NOT THE MAKE OF THE VEHICLE !
2. Ensure that your Servicing shop use's a good engine flush, and also if you have a few miles on the clock get them to put in a good engine metal conditioner. This will assist in any worn areas that may give problems later on.
3. If its petrol and you can afford it use a synthetic oil or semi-synthetic, these oils are capable of handling extreme conditions without breaking down their lubrication properties.
4. Use a good brand of oil filter preferebly a Original Manufacturers item that way you know that its doing the job it was intended to do and not just cheap and nasty knock up to make a few cents..

So for those out there who would like to know the oil type specs for this vehicle this is them.

Engine oil type: SG/CC, SG/CD, SG, SF/CC, SF/CD SF, SE/CC, SE/CD or SE engine oil.

So with all that said I hope that all of you who read this tip can put it into action, you will be thanking me, when at 300,000 km the engine is still able to go even if the rest of the vehicle is falling to pieces...

Happy and Safe Motoring everyone..

Had oil changed 6 days ago now oil light keeps on flashig

If the oil level is correct, it is possible that they installed the wrong filter. If the filter is correct then it is also possible that the new oil freed up some engine sludge and the oil pump pick-up is now being blocked so the pump is being starved for oil...especially if this is the 2.7L engine.

I want to change the oil myself but I have never done it before. I have a 99 Dodge Dakota with 150k. It has a 4 cyl engine. I know the basics but not much more than that. How much oil should it...

changing oil is pretty much the same, 5 quarts is all you need and don't waste your valuable money on synthetic, at how many miles already on the truck you don't want to use a different type oil because a lot of the gaskets will start to leak, hope this helps

I have a 1993 mercedes 190e 2.6 and after getting my oil changed the small leak I had is now draining my engine. I have lost 1.5 quarts of oil in 6 weeks. What do I do now. I was told to get a new oil pan...

Unless the oil pan is badly damaged then I would not replace it. Tell your technician that you would like the gasket replaced and a new oil plug installed. See if this doesn't change the price to something a bit more reasonable. Hope this helps. Good luck.
