The side mirror motor is not serviceable and comes with a complete mirror assembly. There are many after market suppliers of these and a few of them have a really good product. Google search Keystone Automotive and see if there available in your area. Another way to go that's easy on the pocket book is to go used. You're local auto salvage yard will have them for pennies on the dollar compared to new from the dealer.

Dodge 3500 Diesel power mirrors work side to side but not up or down

Check for voltage on the vertical power output at the switch when operated. If no voltage, try lubricating the switch contacts. Still no voltage? Replace the switch.
If there is voltage, open the mirror assembly and check for voltage there. Is there voltage? Do you hear the motor sound when you operate the switch? If you hear a motor sound but the mirror does not move, it is a mechanical problem which can be easily fixed. If there is no motor sound despite the presence of voltage, the vertical axis motor has burned out or seized. Try lubricating the mechanism and, if still a no-go, replace the motor or the entire mirror assembly.

How to replace glass in Driver side rear view mirror?

Not sure of the X5 but on the M3 the mirrored glass portion of the driver side view mirror just "popped" onto the motor carrier in the housing. It was a little nerve racking removing and replacing the glass (my motor had died) but with care its possible. Suggest going to RealOEM.com site and enter vehicle vin information then go to vehicle trim and then outside mirror for details of assembly

How to replace passenger side mirror. Glass is

You can usually just replace the mirror, any commercial auto-glass store has the glass you need. sometimes it is necessary to replace the mirror and its backing (a plastic frame which snaps into the adjustable motor) you don't need to replace the whole mirror unless the housing is broken.

Same problem. motor works

adjust your mirror to center with your hand manually and try the switch again. if it still dosn't work switch to the other side mirror and see if the other side goes up/down. if it does then replace the side that's not going up and down....you have to replace the whole assembly. can't just replace motor.

Driver side mirror won't work but passenger side works fine

Each mirror has a motor. This could be the problem. The driver's side mirror is adjusted more often and over time the motor wears out. Call a few of the parts stores in your area to compare prices. Depending on the cost to replace it through a shop you may save a few dollars by picking up the part and taking to a certified mechanic who can replace the part for you.

Mirrors will not fold in.

It is a stuck motor. Water gives rust inside housing. Remove mirror and clean motor and components. This is a well known error for H2 mirrors.

Side Mirrors will adjust side to side but not up and down.

There are two tiny motors in each mirror. one for up/down. One for side to side. They have jack screws (plastic) that fit into the motors.

You can manually put your hands on either side of the mirror and force adjust it. If you hear a ratcheting sound, the jack screws are OK. Then repeat with hands on top and bottom.

If you hear ratcheting and mirror stays where you stop it, that means one of the motors is bad. The motor assembly is available as a separate part.
