Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2 Answers

Jeep was running fine. Shut it off for parking and it would not start. Jeep has 120k miles. Attempted to get computer call out for faults. Message was no ignition present. check computer cable. All other functions appear to be ok. Fuel relay to fuel pump would not energize. Motor turns over fine. Could this be an engine control module problem. This ECM has part # P56041. This is a 2001 Jeep Wrangler with the in-line 6 cyl. Five speed Trans. Help!

The ECM does control fuel delivery as well as fuel injectors. Unplug the cable from the ECM first and check for any corrosion. Spray with electrical contact spray and reset the plug firmly in the ECM.

You need to do an OBD2 engine control module fault code test to see if the fault is recorded in the memory of the computer control module. Autozone and others do this testing for free.

Trans wirking fine. driving yesterday and trans acts like it went into neutral.

Hello
The engine and transmission in this cars drivetrain are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s)

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. I have a 2002 Trailblazer with 120k miles. I have driven this truck for the last 30k miles with no problems. This afternoon while driving home from work it started misssing and the "Service Engine...

You need to get the fault code scanned to be able to get an idea of where the problem is. It's possible you have a coil pack that goes bad when it heats up.

Now. i think the interval is 75 to 80 miles for belts. double check that it doesn't have a timing chain. if it has the 2.4 ltr eng than you have timing chain and around 120k is fine.
