Sometimes, after the engine is warmed up, the car will not start. If you wait 45 minutes, then it will start up. No problem starting when the engine is cold.

Cold air getting in at the drivers right foot


That is typical for most cars. The front lower (foot area) vents allow cold air to come in just before the heater kicks in (heat value opens). If this just started, may be wait for a warm / hot day and see it continues. Sometimes people forget as this typically happen only on colder days. I wouldn't worry about it. To make it stop, turn off the heater - A/C and wait for the car to warm up before turning on the heater. The car is warm once the engine temp gauge starts to move up / show warmer. In most typical cars it takes about 5 to 7 minutes running get the engine temp up to a point where the heater will blow warmer air. If you have more details / concerns - post them, the more you include (car make, model & year, when did the problem start, anything make it worse or better, influencing conditions e.g. rain, cold, hot, dry, etc the better).

My 2008 Pontiac G6 just had the fuel pump replaced, since then (2 weeks) every 2-3 days my car will not start. If I wait 30 minutes or so the car will then start.


When it doesn't start, is it from a stone cold engine or is the engine warmed up and the 20 or 30 minutes lets it cool down? If it's warn then, I'd be going after the CPS (crank position sensor) sometimes they work fine when the car is cold but then they do not want to start when it hot. If it is the sensor, it will only get worse over time and leave you stranded.

SC2 car cranks and starts sometimes.put new plugs and wires and noticed oil on the 3 and 4 plug. Car once started with some starting flluid runs fine. and will restart. weather is getting cooler 20 degrees...


A common problem with the 90's engines was the ECTS (electronic coolant temperature sensor) going bad. Seems when attempting to start the car, the computer in the car will only allow enough gas it thinks is needed to start. When a car is cold, the computer gives more gas initially, until the engine warms up, then gives less gas. When starting a warm engine, less gas is needed.

If the sensor goes bad, it always tells the computer that the engine is hot. The computer give less gas to a cold engine, and sometimes it will start, sometimes not. Its a pretty cheap part, and a do it yourself one, just research it a bit on line...good luck

check the egr valve, it may need to be replaced.

i know it sounds old school but try tapping the starter kinda hard and then try starting it sometimes they get to hot and freeze up

are you saying it starts fine cold but when hot or warm it has trouble starting, give more descriptions of conditions... weather related issues... any check engine light ?, stored codes ? any recent repairs ? give all you can..
