Some transmission fluids come in funny colours so just have a close look and see if it's the oil itself or if it has little metal shavings in it. if it does have little metal shavings in it then it's not a good sign and you may have to either replace or try to repair the transmission depending on the extent of the damage.

2005 impala shelf to drive but wont go forward


If your fluid level is up to par then it could be your tranny or converter or both. Check the tranny fluid, if it's real dark colored and smells burnt then it's probably the tranny or it could be if your lucky it could be the shifter rod that changes the gear needs adjusted.

It wont down shift


Whens the last time you changed tranny filter and fluid. it may be the vacuum modulator or your bands inside the tranny. Pull out your tranny dipstick when running and check level of tranny fluid. Add dextron II of needed. Smell the tranny fluid on dipstick to see if tranny fluid is burndt. if you change filter and fluid, add a can of trans-x to the fluid. Will help seals in tranny.

I'm buying a 2000 kia sephia l4 1.8l that wont shift(manual tranny) to 3-5th gear. owner says it has a low fluid sensor that wont let it shift when fluids low. is this true or what would you say the...


Hi,
The fluid has nothing to do w/ the shifting! The problem is internal and needed to replace those synchronizing gear! Better look for a used up tranny to install it in ur car!

Tranny problems will run for short time after startup then stop moving ,motor will still run but car wont move let it sit for some time and then it will move again


first of all, check condition of tranny fluid. if it is brown or smells burnt the clutch in tranny are slipping. if the fluid is ok and at normal on stick. then change the fluid and tranny filter. this may help. have a good one !! but if it still slips, tranny is in need of repair or replaced.

Transmission wont hold Transmission fluid full quart only lasts about a quarter of a mile how do i evaluate the problem and fix it


well, if there isn't a big pile of tranni fluid on the floor it gets hard. 1. Bad radiator letting tranni fluid into the cooling system. 2. Tranni fluid slowing escaping through axle shafts. 3. a leak someplace from the tranni or tranni lines.

Why wont my transmision shift


Have you checked your transmission fluid lately?
More often then not that is the cause of shifting problems. Normally this happens gradually which is to be expected since transmission leaks are usually slow. The first signs are a slight hesitation when the car is first started in the morning and put in reverse. The the car seems to lag just a bit before moving back. This increases as more fluid is lost.
Another cause is from the transmission not being properly serviced. Leave the tranny fluid in to long and it becomes burnt. At this point it the viscosity is more like cooking oil instead of transmission fluid.

Most people neglect this item because of a lack of understanding about the transmission system. As opposed to the engine that everyone knows NO Oil =No Car. Although the service interval is greater when compared to the engine oil it needs to be taken care of to prevent "No Car" also.

Check your tranny fluid. Open the hood and located the tranny fluid dip stick. Usually along the firewall. Read what it says because normally the car needs to be running and in neutral to get an accurate reading.

Also look and smell the oil on the stick. If it's brown and/or it smells like it's burnt have the tranny serviced. This involves draining the fluid, replacing the filter and new fluid.

Tranny slips & wont shift past 2nd gear


Ok, you will need to first check the fluid level in this transmission. if the trans is sealed, you will need to take to the dealer for a fluid check. assuming that the fluid level is proper, this will usually be caused by a faulty transmission control module and faulty shift solenoids as well. these devices are located on and inside the trans and i recommend testing each device for flaws.


Most slips are the result of gear ware but, the solenoids and TCM will cuse this issue as well.

My 2001 BUICK CENTURY TRANNY STOPS WORKIN AFTER 3 MIN.


Might want to remove the pan and look how much debris is in there. they can draw debris into the filter for like 15 minutes until it just wont let any more fluid go by then trans will neutralize. when you let it sit the debris by gravity falls back to the bottom of the pan. If this is the case changing fluid and filter may be a temporary fix but honesly when theres that much debris in there it needs rebuilt--in fact sometimes after fluid and filter change they wont move at all. The thick fluid and dirt provides some pressure. Hope I helped. Thanks

well to start of if you buy it you will need to get the tranny fix and if it is front wheel drive you are lokkibg a spending a good chunk of change.also tell the person who is selling the car to have the tranny fluid changed out make sure you see the fluid change out on the tranny that could be the proble the tranny fluid can be dirty.remeber go with him when he has it change.and also make sure the filter is changed out to .hope this helps out let me know
