Hi the only way is through engine or transmission oil cooler either one is damaged . diagnose problem aria , Flush system replace fluids and filters if required.
GO ON INTERNET TYPE IN TRANSMISSION REPAIR MANUAL FOR A 1998 FORD EXPEDITION. SHOULD FIND ONE.IF YOU WANT FORD FACTORY MANUAL LOOK UP FORDS TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFERCASE REPAIR MANUALS THEY NOT CHEAP I BOUGHT GM TRANASMISSION AND TRANSFERCASE MANUALS IT COST ABOUT $150.00 DOLLARS MANUAL 8 INCHES THICK ITS WORTH IT GOT EVERY PART YOU LOOKING FOR GOT LOTS PICTURES AND GOOD INFORMATION DONT LEAVE YOU HANGING.
The best way I know to change all of the transmission fluid is to have it professionally flushed and filled at a qualified shop in your area that specializes in this type of service.
Simply dropping the pan, and changing the filter won't do this as thoroughly as the flush and fill method which uses a special machine and a trained technician.
They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.
Mind did the same thing. The heater core went bad and on that model the box drains out under the car were condensation from the ac would let it out, instead of leaking inside the car on the passenger side on the carpet like older cars do.
have you have the modulator or solenoid checked? have you checked the fluid on the transmission to see if it has a burnt smell to it? if it does you may have to replace the transmission. its hard to tell for sure from here but id try to get it to a shop and have it diagnosed asap
