2007 silverado. dic display does not brighten during daylight. the auto headlight on works fine. When I cover the photoelectric switch in the center of the dash, the instrument lights come on and then roll the dash light dimmer switch the dic display dims and brightens as it should. Then uncover the photoelectric switch, the dic display does not brighten as it should for daylight. The instrument lights do go out, and the the roll switch will not change the brightness of the dic display.

No, I don't think the display is ready to burn out. The radio display acts the same way. The display is a positive even light, it and the radio display just don't increase in intensity for daylight mode.

The dimmer circuit has 3 positions - in your case it appears that the first one it's not functional: the command for it is present in the circuit but it's not executed.
The dimmer positions are done with 3 transistors that are put in series with the lighting diodes. So most likely the first one is inactive or damaged. Best solution is to replace the dimmer module, part of the switch. Since that implies the partial dismantling of the dash you should leave it to a repair shop.

Gmc truck sierra 2003 do you have headlights on auto during daylight

Yes the headlight are left on auto all the time. Don't forget you have daytime running lights (DLR) which are a function of the headlights but not a s bright. So the headlights would appear to be on during the day, but it is the DRL system that is doing that.

check to see if something is blocking the daylight sensor on the dash. If it is not being blocked check to see if the relay for the automatic lights is stuck. If any of these issues are happening then the headlights would be on switching off the daytime running lights

2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT multifunction switch problem?

The multi function switch is the turn signal switch. It also does control wipers and lighting. If you are having the issues you describe then you will most likely have a body control module problem. Before you spend the money to buy the module and get it programed get it checked first. Goot Luck

Headlights wont work

Well...lets start with the obvious. Check fuses and NEVER piggyback any stereo or security stuff into their fuses...you dont want the lights to shut down during a night drive!!
Check under the hood for a relay center...also has some fuses there as well.

The Daytime Running Lamps are a "straight through wiring configuration". Doubt it even goes through a headlight switch at all.
But the regular lights do.
Unless you've worked on the front of the car and forgot to plug the headlights back in, do this...
Turn the light switch on...looking at the instrument cluster , can you make the high-beam-indicator light come on?
As you rotate the headlight switch knob...does the instrument panel lights brighten or dim? You probably have a faulty headlight switch...auto stores have them...they simply plug in.
