ok I guess I'll try that on monday. I've read all the fourms and hoped to find a code this week end as I am driving up state 14 hours and the radio keeps me awake. Now I just need to get the off back to code but I guess the mitsu guys will help. Thanks for your time it was worth the try.

Hi, you will need both of the numbers. The vin and serial number, Write them down.

Locate your VIN number at the base of the front window, driver side. If you can't read your VIN off the window, you will have it on your proof of insurance and title as well. Write it down.

Locate your manufacture's toll free Customer Service number and call them. I called Mitsubishi at 1-888-MITSU2009 to get my code and they were very helpful and easy to work with. Some other manufacture's 800 numbers include:

Acura 1-800-382-2238, Audi 1-800-367-2837, BMW 1-800-831-1117, GMC 1-800-462-8782, Honda 1-800-999-1009, Isuzu 1-800-255-6727, Mazda 1-800-222-5500, Nissan 1-800-647-7263, Saab 1-800-582-7222, Saturn 1-800-553-6000, Toyota 1-800-311-4331, Volvo 1-800-458-1552.

Radio code is specific for each and every car. It is specific like anti theft code. You can get it by providing your VIN# and registration details in authorized dealership. Nobody else can provide you. If anybody can provide you that , then there is no meaning of security for your car.

You can verify an satisfied customer in the below link

1998 mitsubishi montero sport radio code I changed my battery and the radio said code and off

You will need the code to unlock the radio. First you must leave the key in the ON position for one hour with the radio display on.
The radio will shut itself off, and next time you turn it on "code" will be displayed again.
To get your code you need to pull your radio out to read the serial number, then provide that to your dealer for decoding, or present a question here with the serial number and we can decode it for you and instruct you how to input it.

Security code for the radio

The only place you can get the radio code if it is not in the owners manual is to call the dealer with the vin number and possibly the radio serial number.

Need code for radio

If it's the factory radio, you should be able to take the car to a Mitsubishi dealer. They will check the VIN and should be able to give you the code.
