as regards your self diagnosis of the exhaust, find a shop that is equiped to test exhaust pressure/restriction to narrow it down. (catalytic convertors are very expensive).

Today's cars are very complex, and you need to inquire for a good local technition to do a reliable diagnosis

Sounds like the cat or muffler is plugged. If there is an 02 senor ahead of the cat or muffler take it out and see if the car will start, it will run rough but if it starts one of them is plugged and it most likely is the catalytic converter in the exhaust system.

Not the converters. But check them to see if there is nothing in them. I've seen the converters blow apart and clog the muffler. Have the codes read.

From a cold start motor runs normal up to about 5 minutes.then runs rough likes it only running on 3 cylinders and then dies and wont start. no engine light come on.


YOU HAVE A HONEST EXHAUST GUY, BUT YOU MIGHT WANT A MORE EXPERENCED MECHANIC. THAT CAN CHECK THE PROBLEM OUT CORRECTLY

94 tbi starts but dies unless u pump the gas it runs rough


This could be a whole range of problems from lack of fire to engine to a bad fuel pump or pressure regulator in the TBI but if all of that is good then check the Cat. converter to make sure it is not plugged or the muffler. As I have 1994 Chev Silverado myself I know you can pull the 02 sensor out ahead of the cat. and it should run better not well but better. It will relieve the back pressure to the engine.

When the vehicle starts running it runs til the motor gets warm then starts to cut out then die , let it sit for a a couple of hours to cool down and it will star up and run til it gets warm again then...


Hi,
Normally, the hot no-start is caused by a faulty camshaft sensor or crankshaft sensor, usually the crankshaft sensor. Another possible cause for the cut out and die when hot can be a plugged catalytic converter or restricted exhaust. If your 11 year old car still has the original converter, I would suspect it (and some times the muffler) could be restricted due to the catalist inside the converter melting down from age and causing restriction. Sometimes particles will travel to the muffler restricting it also. A restricted exhaust will cause back pressure to the engine because exhaust gasses cannot escape at a rate suitable for the engine to run efficiently. Basically, it chokes your engine. Your exhaust can be checked with emmissions equiptment, but if you go under the car and see rust, dents in converter, or can shake it and hear anything rattling inside it, it is most likely faulty. A new exhaust sytem will make a world of difference on how your car runs, including less rough idle, more power and cleaner oil, less plug fouling and emissions sensor(s) fouling.
Check the exhaust out first and see if you have any computer trouble codes stored. Sometimes a downstream O2 sensor code can indicate a bad converter...........Mike

You need to have your Catalytic converter checked. This sound like it is stopped up.

sounds like the cat. converter is pluged or the oxigen senser is bad and that is on the exaust by the y-pipe and the converter. hope this helps you

Car starts but stalls and cuts out what is wrong. the car will start but runs rough and when you try to give it the gas it will die.


if your check eng light is on get it scaned to see why .if not you could need a good tune up or have weak fule presure or a pluged converter
