Question about GMC Sierra 2500HD
I need to do some work in my steering, but I 'am having trouble locating the fuse in the fuse box to disable my air bags.
SOURCE: air bag disabling
I think it would be far safer for your daughter, to have a seat, even a fold up, that could lock into it's position, when in use, fitted into the rear behind the front seats....I'd also suggest that it is fitted with full harness safety belt....
I don't have a diagram and even if I had one, I would not give it to you.... I cannot understand why anyone would give a letter of authority, to disengage such an important safety device....It is something which may save her life.....
Do you never see the possibility, of carrying anyone else in the vehicle?
I'm sorry if I seem harsh.....I am with the traffic department where I live, and I have attended accidents.....one yesterday....
I don't know the reasons why you have applied for that exemption....All that I can say to you, is leave the air bags working and make sure you drive so that you'll never need the safety that the air bag provides....
I'm sorry if my reaction has upset you, but I wish your daughter and you, all the very best....

If the brake lights will not turn off, the switch on the brake pedal is shorted or damaged. Look for it on the brake pedal under the dash. You will not need to remove the steering wheel.

The best way and the safest way if you are going to be removing the steering wheel ,is to unhook the battery cable,And make sure the cable cannot fall back to the terminal on it's own while your working inside.

There is no reset, you have to take it to a repair shop and get the codes read to see what is causing the light to come on.Usually just a sensor. When it is repaired the shop can use a scan tool to reset the light. This would be the the only way to reset the light.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Replacing the radiator will not set off the air bag.
The fuse for the air bag system is marked SIR.
Supplemental Inflatable Restraint.
There is reason to worry about setting off the air bag.I have worked for GM dealerships for 20 years and have never seen an airbag deploy during vehicle service.
