Transmission slipping check fluid may save it if you catch it soon enough?if it is just low?if not then it is bad smell see if fluid smells burnt and is brownish bad sign.

sounds like transmission problem? check it out at a shop. does it sound like its revving high through out acceleration? my murano stays at 2-3k at those speeds

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo and at 44000 miles it acted like yours.My catalitic converter was cloged up.It was a bad batch of cats. and GM paid my bill after I had it replaced. I got a "High Flow" type.It works great. Im now at 177000 miles.

Deccelerating a 95 honda civic


Vacuum leak or fast idle sensor inside throttle body. Also check to make sure throttle cable and cruise control cable is not out of place on the cable roller/pulley on top of intake manifold.

it is not tring to die it has a rev governer and is keeping the engine from over reving letting you only go so fast

It is possible that your clutch is slipping, causing the engine to rev high. Does it also seem to be lacking power, ie if you put your foot ******* the accelerator does it just rev up and not go any faster? If so, the clutch will need to be replaced. Take it to a garage and get them to road test and report to you if you are unsure.
