Hi, the starter relay needs a ground signal from the PCM. The PCM may withhold ground unless both the anti-theft system and park/neutral switch are closed. You can bypass this by cutting the dark blue/orange strip wire from the relay and grounding it to the chassis, but this will also bypass the park/neutral interlock. In addition, the the computer may disable other functions due to the anti-theft system, including injector or fuel pump relay signals.

How do I disarm the alarm system on my 1998 volkswagen? It wont start ,cranks but wont run..I changed the plugs still wont start, someone said could be in the alarm system to disarm it.

The alarm would cause the car not to crank, and the alarm horn would sound. You can try unlocking the car from the trunk lock to disarm the alarm. But crank and no start could be a bad ignition switch. Do the dashboard lights stay on or go out while the key is in the crank position? They should remain "on". Worn ignition switch could cause the car to crank but not start.

2006 CHRYSLER VAN PUT KEY IN TO CRANK AND HORN BLOWS AND WILL NOT CRANK

This can be a tough one but in all probability the problem will be in your anti theft system. Try this, have someone boost the battery. The engine should turn over and the horn will sound. When it starts use your key fob to lock and unlock the doors. That should reset your alarm system. In all probability your battery needs replacing. Try that. Good luck.

Starter will crank but the van won't start

run fault codes and check for cam/ crank position sensor problem. Check that the cam shaft is turning (broken timing belt/chain). Check that the immobiliser is working as a disconnected battery ( starter replacement) will corrupt the CPU including the alarm systems . Use a code reader to reset the CPU.

2008 Pontiac Montana S6 Won't Start.

Sounds like the anti-theft/alarm system was triggered.
Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver door with the key to disable the alarm ?
And you need at least 12 volts to crank the engine so the battery may need to be charged up first.

Wont start

Does it crank and not start or won't crank at all? If it won't crank at all then the starter or solenoid that fires it could be defective. Also if it won't crank could be the neutral safety switch in the transmission keeping it from starting. Is there an alarm on this car? Alarms (especially aftermarket ones) usually have a starter interrupt circuit that prevents the ignition switch from activating the starter when they are set. Factory alarms may prevent the ignition system from firing if they are set or defective. Anyone been doing "non-standard" wiring under the dash recently??? Check that first then check the large gauge wiring connections, starter, ignition switch wiring and alarm(s) in that order and you should find your problem. This issue can be fairly simple but can also quickly turn into an complicated electrical troubleshooting nitemare. You may want to consider having it towed to a reputable shop for professional attention.

1996 DODGE MINIVAN WILL NOT START COULD IT BE THE ALARM SYSTEMIF SO I NEED SKEMATICS OF WIRING DIAGRAM TO DISCONNECT THE ALARM SYSTEM

There are many other possibilities for no start problem.Like battery very low on voltage or battery totally got weak/faulty.The starter is not functioning. There is no fuel or fuel pump is getting blocked. But yes, the alarm system is also possible.---------- Did you tried with any other key.Do you have two keys for the car.If yes, try with another key.Do you hear the horn chirping noise when you start the car.
Try to reset the Alarm:-- Insert the ignition key into driver side door lock. Then turn the key to anticlockwise direction and unlock the door. Then turn the key to clockwise direction. Then again turn key to anticlockwise direction. This resets the system. Then check. ---------------- Also disconnecting the reconnecting battery for 10 minutes resets the alarm system. --------------- Try this troubleshooting.Keep updated.thanks.Helpmech.

How do I reset the alarm?van won't start... Could it be the pcm or bcm?ifso how do I solve this problem?

Fallow this Procedure if it Does Not Work then Yes It Could Be BCM only if it Does NOT CRANK when You Attempt to START ENGINE

Lock ALL Doors BY the LOCK BUTTON Wait 1 Minute, Then UNLOCK The DRIVER DOOR WITH KEY, This should Deactivate the ARMING of FACTORY Alarm System.
