Question about Chevrolet Tracker

1 Answer

Hello, i checked the wires on my chevy tracker and this is what i found. the white /black has 12 volts. the orange/black had a good ground. but the brown wire to the PCM had electrisity to light up the bulb but when i turned the engine over the light went out and did not relight while turning over the engine. is the PCM bad?

what are you trying to check. The only brown wire I see is for the tack and the orange with black is for the 4wd?

  • eugene norgaard Mar 20, 2011

this is the wire for the coil pack on the #1 cyl it goes to the PCM.

that the only coil that is not working?

I would expect it to flash as the PCM triggers the coil.

  • eugene norgaard Mar 20, 2011

well it burnt the coil up. the top bubbled up and smoke came from it. the coil does not fire so far as i can tell. i replaced it with a new bwd e727. it burnt up also.

You have three other coils that are working. If you test the brown wires on those (brown/whit, brown/yellow, brown black) and the test light flashes than your on the right track with the bad PCM. You should see a flash or pulse with the test light as the PCM turns the ground on and off to trigger the coil.

If it where wiring (brown wire shorted) than it would burn up as soon as you turned the key on.

Where is the location of the power seat circuit breaker on a 2001 s10 blazer lt?

I think that more than likely wher eit draws the power in the fuse box the circuit feed to the fuse is burnt out ,this is often a strip on the back of the fuse box that runs across the frrd to the fuses so check for a feed in the fuse box on the fuse for the power seat

My back up lights burt out and wanted 2 know what runs off the same harnest or fuse for that I have a short

Hello! The back up light circuit is stand alone...Power is fed via the back up light switch to both the left and right lamp on a Red/White wire...Ground is fed by a White/Black wire...The back up light switch receives power from a 10 a fuse ( Gauge Fuse) on a Black/Orange wire... So, 12 volts from the gauge fuse on Black/Orange...through the switch on a Red/White to both back up lights...Ground to lights via a White/Black...Using an ohm meter with power off...Set on X10 scale...check the Red/White to ground...It must read open...if you read any resistance on that wire it will blow the fuse...Guru...saailer

I have a 1994 cadallic seville none of my gages work and digital readout, every now and then it will all come on but shortly later it will all back out does anyone know what the problem may be.

Hello! It is more than likely being caused by a poor ground or battery connection to the panel...I can act as your guide if you have a multimeter, a wee bit of experience using one and are comfortable taking the panel out of the dash...Here are two test procedures if you intend on DIY...

+12 volts is supplied to the panel on an Orange wire in connector C-1 which is also tied to connector C-2 (both are Orange wires)...Ground is a Black/White wire in C-1 and C-2 as well...Using safety pins push the point into the rear of the connector into the Orange wires (one at a time)....Set the meter to read +12 volts...Clip the (+) meter probe to the safety pin and the (-) probe to bare metal...Start the engine and meter must show 12 volts without loss...

To test the ground (Black/White wires)...Turn engine off...Set meter on the X10 or X100 ohm scale...Use exactly the same procedure...One probe to both Black/Whites...The other to bare metal chassis...Must read zero ohms (dead short)...

Because nothing else is wrong it narrows it down to the battery and ground application to the panel...May also be a faulty connector or a loose one...Send a comment ...Guru...Saailer
