Question about Ford Lincoln Continental
I was given a Lincoln Continental that has suicide doors and a reverse hood. I was told that it was a 1964, then 1966 and then1968. Can you help me figure this out? Also the car has sat for 8 years and we want to clean the gas tank. However, we have a problem, we do not know what to do. Do you have any suggestions?
The serial number will idenify the year of you car, most any dealer, or tech can decode it for you. The gas tank can be a real problem because of its age, there are two straps holding the tank up into the car. These straps have threaded bolts attached to the ends and to remove the tank you must remove the nust on these threads. Rust, mud and whatever can make this really hard, then you need a jack to hold the tank up so you can remove the filler hose, gas lines and wires from the top, then ease it down. Depending on your locality a tank this old may be rusted through and may not be repairable.
