Hello Lifeebyythee.

In warm ambient temperatures this is very close to normal.
If it isn't you may have some blockage in the radiator and should be flushed.
Ideally, I'd like to see a drop of about 4 degrees on each.
But that amount could be the sensor range slightly out.
When the temperature reaches the high end of the scale the radiator cooling fan is coming on and increasing the airflow through the radiator.
The thermostat is fully opened around 195. The computer senses the temperature and turns on the fan at the high end of the scale.
If your system is not boiling over it should be fine.
If you have further questions regarding this please ask me here in a comment.
Thank you for using FixYa.

1993 Subaru LX Liberty with a EJ22 2.2L Engine Overheat problem?

I have the same model, and had the same problem 2 years ago- random overheats. Problem turned out to be the thermostat installed upside down. The thermostat should be fitted so the operating part with the spring goes up into the engine block. A similar problem I have now is overheats and coolant loss out the expansion tank overflow, specially during wide open throttle driving. Also bubbles in the radiator. Seriously suspect head gasket failure.

What is the Eng Temp on 3.0 eng

Thermastate should open and turn fan on around 120 deg, The normal running tempiture is around 180 deg, With being a 3.0 it has a smaller radiator and will run a little warmer the the biger engines. Good luck to you.

Engine temp goes up to 230 degrees

It's actually normal for engine temps to go up to 220 deg. F or 230 deg. F in the summer time, even in normal engines that run at 196 deg. F typically.

This happened to me with no malfunctions on my 1997 Cadillac Deville, yesterday.

Actually, engines run more efficiently at higher temperatures like this.

Just make sure your coolant is topped off and that it fluctuates between lower temperatures and this high reading.

This is a normal temperature in my experience for GM vehicles.

How can you tell if you have a bad theromast

First you need to see if the engine is overheating or if the engine is running cool. The job of the thermostat is to maintain a set operating temp, usually 190-200 deg f. If it overheats everytime it is ran then your thermostat may be stuck closed. If you start it up and it heats up to like 220 deg and then goes back down to 190 that tells you that the thermostat is sticking closed and poping open when its really hot. If you cant get to 190 deg f that means that the thermostat is stuck open.

The engin running temp is 210 to 233, but the temp outside is a 103 degrees today. Is this a problem.

Most cooling fans come on at about 225 degrees. 233 is a little high, but if it comes down pretty quickly, you should be okay. You might need a coolant flush.
