Do you mean, fuel pressure regulator. if so replace it. the regulator is going bad.

It's actually leaking from the differential regulator - so guessing that is what needs to be replaced. Thank you Toolman 16820 for providing input.

2000 trail blazier with random misfire, sulfur smell, glowing convertor. New cap, rotor button plugs, plug wires and convertor NO CHANGE ! ANY IDEAS ?

Is the check engine light lit ? Any DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ? What engine ? 4.3 L vortex . Leaking fuel pressure regulator under the upper intake manifold . Leaking fuel injectors ! Ignition timing problem . How does the engine run ? Who installed the plugs an wires ? are they right ? Fuel pressure leak down test, fuel injector balance testing . Check distributor drive gear an slop in the shaft . Did you have distributor out ? Is it in the proper position ? What cylinder is misfiring ? engine mechanical problem ! What do spark plugs look like ? fouled , soaked with fuel . Do a engine compression test .
The camshaft drives the distributor shaft which rotates providing a spark to the correct cylinder by way of the cap and rotor. The camshaft position sensor functions much like the crankshaft sensor previously described but provides only a 1x signal to the VCM. That is, for every 2 rotations of the crankshaft, there is 1 rotation of the camshaft. Note that the CMP sensor will not affect driveability. The sole purpose of the CMP sensor is to provide the VCM with the necessary information for the misfire DTCs.

I have a 97 civic I am not getting fuel or spark

Most likely Camshaft sensor, located in distributor, is just the right age for that problem.

My car wont start

It doesn't matter if the exhaust is leaking if the car won't start. The smell... does it smell like gasoline? If you have a new alternator and battery, then I would focus on the fuel system. Fuel pump, fuel injector, leaking fuel line, bad spark plugs, bad distributor cap, bad spark wires, oxygen sensor, etc.

What would cause an lt1 motor to sputter and pop when you give it gas

if this has the motor i`m thinking you could have a fuel pressure problem that needs to be checked with a gage.these motors are known for bad distributors units, cracked caps, rotors burning through, wires going bad, internal distributor problems.

Dodge stratus misfire, runs rough has random misfires in cylinder 1,3,and 5 and a vacuum leak, I,m not too worried about the leak unless it is related to the misfire

I WOULD REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR.MARK LOCATION OF ROTOR OR MAKE NOTE SO YOU CAN INSTALL NEW ROTOR IN CORRECT FIRING POSITION. IF THIS CAR HAS A LOT OF MILES I WOULD REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP, ROTOR.SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES.REPLACE IGNITION COIL.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS, FILL GAS TANK UP TO 3/4 TO FULL TANK OF GAS POUR CAN SEAFOAM IN FUEL TANK IT WILL FLUSH OUT THE FUEL INJECTORS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING OR DRIVING CAR. REPLACE FUEL FILTER. REASON I SAY DO A TUNE UP PROBLEM COULD BE MINOR FIX.COULD NEED TUNE UP.IF TUNE UP DONT HELP THEN YOUR PROBLEM IS DISTRIBUTOR OR THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR INSIDE OF DISTRIBUTOR.THAT WOULD SET OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.BUT I WOULD SAY TUNE UP COULD FIX PROBLEM.

the tps may affect the idle, but not really the excessive fuel. check that your coil has enough spark, remove plug watch spark. otherwise check haul senders in distributor or check injectors are not leaking.

1991 vw passat 9A 16v 2l B Charging and instrument cluster problem One day car did not start-turn key and nothing at all.(no power to inst. cluster no turning, nothing) One hour later it did turned on and cranked. and run fine. Next day repeated.Battery was dead. When jumped jumper cable melted. The alternator was shorting. Replaced battery and alternator. But alternator is not charging.Alternator tested as good.Replaced anyway, for another alternator that also tested as good just for the heck of it. Still not charging and whole instrument cluster and radio have no power from the very first replacement repair till now. Car will run just fine with out other el. problems as far the battery have charge above 6-7 v. I checked fuses in fuse/relay panel.Did not see any fuse burned. Is there fusible link on charging system or other fuse or relays to check besides the ones on the fuse/relay panel? I there relay that control this? I know that is grounded good. I know that is connected to + battery good. Alt+battery good. There is small blue wire running from alternator?????? called the alt. control wire. I think is says d+ or something on the alt.terminal next to it. It seems that something prevents the alternator to output power. I measured the alt. terminal + and ground when connected and running and all I read is the battery voltage dropping. I think the blue small wire and instrument cluster are close connection to this problem. Unless there is fuse or relay that I missed to check. other possibilities- ECU. -Wiring harness. First- where is all the fuses? and relays to check? fusible links? second -what is the blue wire ? third-instrument cluster involved? keep in mind that everything works besides inst cluster and charging when battery have charge above 6-7v. This car have disconnected and missing ABS and Security . Run grate for about a year till this happened. Rebuilded engine....Clean well maintained.. u4davidatgmaildotcom
