My left rear window is off the track (elec windows). The window grabs when I roll it down but not when I roll it up. It just falls back down.

There is a special tool for taking door panels off and it can be bought at most auto supply companies. It is flat with a v in the end of it so that when you put it between the door panel and the door it will fit around the plastic clips.check the door for any visible screws and there is one located behind the door grab handle and it has a plastic cover over it .Just pop the cover off with a small flat screw driver. Once all the screws are out you have to use the tool I mentioned to pop the plastic clips out of the door. They have barbs on them to grab when installed,so when you try and get them out they are a a little tougher, but not too bad. Don't use a lot of force because the clips will break.once you see all the clips are out the door panel will slide up to release the trim that is at the bottom of the window. The wie will be attached to the power window switch so don't forget to disconnect it.

Hi Dana,
I'm glad we got your taurus fixed. Thanks for the "Kudos".
If you can hear the window motor on your BMW running and making a bunch of popping and cracking sounds and your window is not moving, it is because you have a broken window regulator. The part you need looks like the picture below. The door panel as well as the sound insuator and rear glass must be removed to replace it. This sounds much harder than it really is. Actually, BMW has one of the easiest window regulators in the world to change. The hard part is getting the sound insulator off of the door without destroying anything. You will need a couple of single-edge razor blades to pull this one off.

If you think you will need step-by-step instructions with diagrams, just visit my profile and click on one of my "Pro Services" and sign up for email support and I will be happy to send you the factory service information for your rear door.(Haynes eat-your-heart-out, good info!)

Left rear window off track

you'll need to remove your door panel (screws are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door) and pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything.

How do i get access to the rear speakers in my

You should be able to gain access to these inside your trunk, although getting in there and out may be a little difficult. Try laying on your back as you slide into the trunk head first the speakers will be within reach when your head is at the seat back

Windows defective

The window track is out of adjustment and the track lining is probably warn. You need to remove the door panel to gain access to the window track. Once in the door you will see the tracks and the adjusting nuts. Loosen the nuts and snug up the track, not too tight and not bent.Try the window a few times before reassembly. Great truck I hope he enjoys it, good luck.

I do not recommend this job unless you are a seasoned mechanic, VW dealership charges $1000 for a reason. They almost earn it on this one. but heres how it's done or how I did it any way. the complete job took me 4 hours and I been at this for 30 years. But a lot of this time was figuring out how it came apart. First, drop the top, pull up on seat bottom and remove it, remove center panel, remove 3 allen bolts at bottom on seat back and remove. headrests, they just pull off, raise top just enough to make hinged panels flip up. remove nut at top rear corner of side panel. you can see the back side of the nut and bolt it is on from the panels that flip up. Remove Nylon push lock rivet where seat belt goes through panel on rear, top, corner. Pull out on panel to release it, there is 5 or 6 nylon locks that just pull out of holes in the body. It will sound like your breaking it when the locks pop loose, or mine did. then lift to gain access to remove seat belt bolts and unplug flip panel motors. remove cable end from its clip. Pull seat belts through panel. Set panel a side. remove torx head bolt around oval panel that speaker is mounted on. unplug speaker and regulator and pull wire harness thru hole. remove 2 allen and 5 hex bolts at top where window would come out if it worked. pull up on plate and move rubber window seal to the side to remove plate. remove 2 nuts at bottom of regulator and one about half way up towards front, lift regulator and window up through top to gain access to 3 nuts that hold window to regulator, from the top lift window out first then regulator. Reverse to assemble it.
