Question about 2007 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

1 Answer

Just took my 74 450sl out of storage..the power steering pump was low on fluid..filled it and I noticed that the car is pulling to the right...to drive straight down the road the steering wheel is cocked to the right....it was not that way when I put it away...could an air lock in the pump or the rack cause this to happen?

Check ur tire pressures-when cars sit for very long periods of time, they also develop flat spots in tires if not driven-check suspension and tires first, doubt "air lock" is causing this

Ihave a car ford taurus year 1999 my problem is the power steering pump if ishot down the engine the fluid will come out wiht alot of preasure on the reservoir even though it was ina correct level, th

when filling the power steering pump, add enough fluid that you can see it inside the pump down low. turn the tires all the way to the left then to the right. then straighten the tires. this allows the fluid to go in to the system. add more fluid and check with the power steering cap level gauge. if the engine has warmed up add fluid to the hot level on the power steering cap gauge. do not overfill.

Impala 2011 steering power noise

Have you checked the level of the power steering fluid if it is low it can cause a noise similar to what you described. The power steering pump could be starting to fail and making the noise. I would suggest checking the power steering fluid level and if low, they make some fluid that has power steering fluid conditioner, supposed to help extend the life of the power steering pump, if it is low you need to follow the lines from the pump and see if you can find a leak anywhere. also I would take notice of the color of the power steering fluid, if not too much trouble maybe take a picture of the fluid and upload it here, the fluid can break down and need to be replaced.

2002 Oldsmobile Alero makes loud noises when turning

more than likely it is just low on power steering fluid. system might have air in it now. so after fill power steering unit to proper level driver the car and check fluid level again. and add more if needed . I believe car should have motor running for when checking fluid, same as transmission.

My power steering pump is not working and i want to replace it myself. how do i do that

1. disconnect the battery.2. Empty the fluid reservoir.3. Remove the serpentine belt.4. Disconnect the high pressure and low pressure lines.5. Remove the power steering pump bolts. The installation is reverse of removal.7. Fill power steering to the full mark on the check stick with Mercon V transmission fluid. That is the recommended fluid for your vehicle.8. Start vehicle and spin the steering wheel all the way left and right to get any air pockets out. Since there is still fluid in the rest of the system, take some time to flush the system out.Low or bad fluid can damage the power steering pump.

Power steering does not work turning right. what

Hi Ben,

Air in the line. Be sure the steering fluid level is up to the fill line.

Turn the wheel to the stops both ways a couple times.

Check the level again.

Repeat until the level remains static,

Best regards
Mike

I have a 97 taurs with a steering problem. It makes a humming noise that gets louder the faster I go. It pulls to the right, an when I go around a left corner it feels like it just doesn't want to turn...

check to see if you have power steering fluid. if your low fill it up. (most cases thats all it is) check around for any leaks or parts to the power steering unit for and damage (hoses, pump, rer, rack and pinion, any seals or such. you might have a leak somewhere. when your looking for leaks fill the res up with power steering fluid. turn the car on. and have someone turn the wheel so get the fluid to build up pressure in the system.

Power steering dont work to left or right

To find out witch it is,pump or rack and pinion, break loose the presure line on the power steering pump with a wench.Start the car and turn the steering wheel back and forth, you may need to loosen the nut on the power steering hose two or three turns to get the fluid to shoot out.It should come out pretty forceful. If it doesn`t,then replace the pump.If it does come out really powerful, replace the rack and pinion.

If its a whining noise, check the power steering fluid level and fill if low, otherwise you may have a pump going out or a loose belt

I'm hearing a very loud sound from my 1999 gram am gt also,

If it's a power steering pump low on fluid, it will buzz real loud and worse when you turn the steering wheel left or right.

Fill with power steering fluid. Look in owners manual for type of fluid.

when fluid is added, turn stering wheel full left and full right to purge trapped air.

If this does not fix, you may have a bad pump.

Please rate as fixya if ths solves your issue.

Rpeort back on rsults and good luck.
