Question about 2001 Ford Escape

1 Answer

My daughter just bought a 2001 Ford Escape and she wasn't shown how to get the headlights to come on. She lives in NC and the vehicle came from OH. She can get the parking lights to come on but not the headlights, she doesn't have an owners manual. Can you point us in the right direction?? Thanks. Rusty

The switch that turns the parks on should turn one more click to get the headlights on, if thats being done and still nothing, check fuses, however the switch itself may be bad and need replaced.

I have a 2001 escape when my foots on the gas the radio quits if i hit the breaks or put it in park it works...whats the problem????

There wasn't a car repair as simple as you make it
sound, even back in the 1950's

No way of knowing

You will need to go for a test drive at a repair shop
& provide them with lots of info

Can't even guess at that one

In the end it will be something simple

My lights for a ford escape 2001 wont work

check under the hood for black box, lift the cover off of black box, marked" main fuse and relay boxfuse positions should be marked on underside of the lid to main fuse panel box, that you have just removed.check for a blown headlamp fuse in that box. it's either a blown fuse in that box,or if only one headlights "out" it will be a blown bulb(headlight bulb) it's very unusual for both headlight bulbs to blow at once. so in saying that, look for a blown headlight fuse. thank you for choosing

2001 ford escape has dim headlight. Tried 2 new bulbs no help as well as new headlight assembly since old one was dull and yellowed. Thanks

First, make sure your battery terminals are clean and tight. Also check that the ground strap from the battery is tight. Also check that the ground lead in the headlight wire harness is also clean and tight. You should also check the charging system to see that it is working properly. Output with no load is usually between 13 and 14 volts, (about 13.4 -13.6). Then check with load and it should still be above 12 volts if working properly.

How do you change the headlight bulbs in a 2003 Ford Escape?

I'm pretty sure the 2001 thru 2004 Escape takes an H4 bulb for the headlights. (I have a 2002) Both headlight bulbs can be be replaced from under the hood. No tools required.

There are some pictures at the end of my collection that may help.

As I recall, you need to squeeze a clip on the harness plug to get it off.
Then, pull off the big rubber boot.
There is a wire clip holding the bulb in. This can be tricky if you never did it. It will tick you off when you figure out how easy it is.
On the driver's side of the bulb, push the upper wire retainer towards the front of the vehicle a little and then upwards; that should unhook it.
Then, Again on the driver's side, push the lower retainer towards the front of the vehicle a little and then DOWN; that should unhook it.
The wire latch will then swing out of the way, and the bulb can be removed.
The bulb can only be inserted one way.
Good luck
