Question about 1999 Dodge Caravan

Open Question

Bushings cracked off wiper linkage on my Dodge Caravan SE. I bought a package of new replacement bushings. No matter how hard I try, I can't get them to say on. What can I do to make them "snap" into place and stay put. The bushings are located at an angle that makes them very hard to reach and apply pressure. Is there a tool that can best perform this job? Thanks!

SOURCE: After replacing the wiper motor and linkage

Remove the arms, and place them back on where they need to go,do not turn the wipers on,do this as they set now.If the wiper blades when turned on go off the left side of the windshield ,then you will have to remove everything again, and move the wipers down in the rest position, and align everything up to the rest position, with the wipers at rest, and the motor at rest.

SOURCE: My passenger side wiper linkage (on a 1999 Caravan

if the little serrated or fluted stem/axle is turning back and forth with the driver side, then yes your problem is that the arm itself is stripped out. that is a good thing as opposed to replacing the whole wiper linkage/transmission. look in the phone book for auto salvage yards and call around until you find one with a vehicle close to yours. bear in mind that most chrysler product vans will have the same wiper arms. when someone says "yeah we got one" take your wiper arm go out there and inspect theirs to make sure it is the same and that the hole is not stripped out already. part should not be more than 10 bucks on a car that old.

Frequently having to replace the bushings on the wiper linkage

Bushings like those should last decades. They'll wear out if any of the linkage is bent, though. Bushings will wear if the load isn't centered.
