Interesting, when looking in the owners manual, it says "if the car is equipped with electronic dampening system this light may come on" each strut has a connector that has to be plugged in on the top of them and they are. Now I'm assuming that because the connector's were disconnected to replace the struts and reconnected that could have made the light come on. according to the manual this CAT indicator has nothing to do with the catalytic converter. Can you please look into this matter more and let me know if there is a certain code or combination that I have to do to get this light off.

Thank you for your help in this matter

I'm not sure if you got my reply. So I'll post it here as well. after reviewing the owners manual it tells me that this indicator has to do with the electronic dampening control, that would make sence seeing as I just replaced the electronic struts. I've checked the connectors on each strut and they are in place. Perhaps because the connectors were disconnected for a short time its caused or tripped the light to come on. is there a certain combination of things I need to do with the key and reset button that would reset the light. CAT has nothing to do with the catatalic convetor according to the manual. Thanks for your help in this matter. Randy

Sure it comes on when you turn the car on and stays on even in park or in drive or moving or not. in the manual looking under section 4-14, the message on the dash reads "CATS SYSTEM FAULT" it says in 4-14 that this message will be "displayed when a fault is detected in the adaptive daping system". Hope this helps, once again Thanks for your continued help.

This indicator is showing a problem with the Catalytic Converter system. Check you have fitted all the electrical connectors first. If you have check the connector on the CAT sensor which maybe unplugged or come loose.
If this is ok then have the sensor checked it maybe faulty.
Let me know if you need more help.

Could you tell me the color and the location on the Instrument Panel where this light it coming on.
I cant seem to find a reference to CAT for this vehicle except under catalytic Convertor.

Ok, I just need to know if this light comes on while driving or stays on when you turn the ignition on and start the vehicle?
I just need to determine weather it is a Lateral/Vertical sensor which is part of the Dampening control or a anti-lock brake system area.

I still can not find a reference to CAT.....I have looked for models before and after...I realize it must have something to do with the dampener replacements.

I was hoping you would say something like this, what I have found is that this is the main messenger center which displays fault codes etc. Unfortunately you need a Jaguar PDU to check if this is a open circuit fault( broken wire in the dampening system or just a faulty Active suspension system sensor.
It is possible for this warning indicator to be switched off but it can only be done through using this PDU tool.
But in the mean time just check to ensure you have refitted all ground wires, brake speed sensor wiring and the lateral/vertical sensor wiring.
All these sensor take part in the active control of the suspension system and when you removed the dampeners you may have left a connector off.
I hope this is of some help, thanks for the patience.

My mechanic replaced my front struts with an after market strut without the CAT system wires and plugs and now I get the CAT system failure light.

You need to put resistors in the connectors to the old units to mimic the circuit resistance, I am sorry but don't know what value/ohms they should be. Try joining a Jag owners forum and asking there

2000 jagure gearbox coad came up and does not have any power

this is a easy one for me if you added any fluid via side fill bolt on the drivers side of the transmission , you add to much, if not most people will tell you it's your transmission..if you hear any noise coming from the front of your transmission were the transmission meets the engine.i will say it is your..... torque converter, not the transmission and do not let them tell you it is just to get more money out of you please, dealer keep telling me it was my transmission but it did not make since to me when my car was cold transmission worked fine till it got warm and a bad converter will take a few extra second longer to get in gear.... if drive does not work then you put it in 4th manually and the transmission drives good thru all gears ok then it is your torque converter. torque converter

Check eng light trouble code PO420 bank 1 on toyota camry 2002 le replaced top oxygen sensor reset codes and check eng. light came back on.

More often than not the Cat is bad. Replacing the sensors is the easiest move. Reasons for the cat to go bad will be related to something else wrong with the fuel management and emissions systems in the car, improper sealants or chemicals used on prior repairs causing damage to the cat

2000 Cavalier catalytic converter was stolen/check engine light

The check engine light is probably indicating a catalytic converter malfunction the Oxygen sensor that is located after the cat tells the computer if the cat is functioning properly it is possible the wire has been broken or damaged. To see if the cat is there jack up the car and look under the passenger and driver area of the car follow the exhaust pipe from the front back the first thing the pipe comes to should be the cat it looks like a muffler with a wire going to a sensor after toward the back side of it, I doubt they never installed one but I guess it is possible.
