I'm guessing you don't have a lot of mechanical knowledge so I'll try to explain simply. What the mechanic did was he pressed on the schrader valve (it's the valve on the fuel rail for your car on the engine and it looks like a valve stem on your tire- it might even have a black cap on it like your tires). What he was doing was checking for fuel. The car probably started by luck. If you're still having the problem you probably have what's called a dead spot in your starter's solenoid. You should probably replace the starter and have your battery tested at Autozone or somewhere for free

Yes my 2000 grand am started smoking after I used the cigg lighter them started going crazy the next day I looked were my cigg lighter fuse was and it was melted in the fuse box I took my dash apart and...

Yeah, I would say that. Since it melted. Check years, because not all grandams are a like. Year specific. Meaning you can't pull it out of an 2002.(it wont work) only a 2000.

My 2003 Pontiac Grandam will shut down while I'm driving and it has to do with the security system

The security system is called Passlock. And yes it will turn off the fuel injectors when it starts to fail. Go check out this link, should help inform you about how the system works along with some ways to get around it.

Hello, I have a 2004 pontiac grandam and it's a 4 cylinder and the security light has been on for over 2 weeks steady, but my car has been starting, but last nite while starting it stalled alittle and

If the security light is on, it can only be one thing. This light indicates a failure in the antitheft system that will eventually lead to your car refusing to start or continue running. Here is a link with alot of info, plus ways to beat this problem.

I have a 1994 Pontiac GrandAm w/175,000 miles. It has sat for 5 years because it was orverheating and quit running al together. where do I start if I want to get it running?

Start by removing the sparks and wire set. Mark each wire with a piece of tape as you take them off. Take a compression reading on all cylinders. They should be over 120 psi and within 20 psi of each other. Change the oil and filter, checking the oil for water and metal particles. If the gasoline has been sitting that long I would fill it with fresh fuel. Change the air filter, plugs, wires, etc. Check the cooling system for leaks, drain and refill with new antifreeze. Assemble everything and have a small amount of fuel to prime the engine if needed. Make sure the battery is fresh and fully charged. Fire her up, let it get warm while checking for leaks, smoke, overheating. Bring to a smooth idle.

1996 grandam 2.4 car won,t start frequently

Check for fuel and spark when it won't start or have a neighbor do it. Spray carb cleaner or starting fluid in the intake when it occurs to eliminate fuel problem.

2000 pontiac grandam GT will not start. Battery will not take a charge. Charger dial goes back and forth real fast. After, got in to start it, lights blinking, horn honked once by itself. Nothing now....

check alternator. when engine is running there should be at least 14 volts or a bit higher at battery. when off at battery it should read no lower then 13 volts. check alternator, the pcm may have lost its power, so everything is going crazy.
