It is possible that something has happened to the motor, but it could also be the pulse board. The pulse board supplies power to the motor and is available at autoparts. 8 out of 10 of this type of failure is the pulse board. I have had this type of problem myself a few years back and a new pulse board fixed it. The pulse board is located behind the removable cover on the wiper motor. You shouldnt have to remove the motor to get to it. Please let me know if this helps.

Wipers work about 5 seconds then stop until engine is shut off about an hour. Then repeat.

Sounds like the windshield wiper motor is getting too hot. The wait an hour is waiting for that to cool down.
The wiper motor is located usually under the hood, on the firewall on the passenger side.
You should be able to feel the wiper motor getting too hot when the wipers are turned on.
Hope this helps.

The problem here is the wiper motor itself, theres a cuircut board on the back of the motor, this is what goes bad and controls the wipers, you will need to replace the motor to replace this board, i think they should be replaced in a pair, this will solve your problem, , hope this helps.

Wipers wont come on

try opening the hood and hitting the wiper motor with a hammer lightly, just a couple of times on the round part of it,thats where the armeture and magnets are, sometimes the magnets will come unglued from the caseing and they quit working,if they work again then replace the wiper motor.Anywhere between $50.00-$100.00 for just the new motor

the relay is built into the wiper motor its called the pulse contol module and comes with a new wiper motor. make the wipers come on and then get them to stay on while wiper switch is in the off position, then tap the wiper motor and see if it turns off, if it does then u need a wiper motor assembly and be careful opening the hood some wiper arms will contact the hood when the hood is open and the wipers are on

Wiper won't park

HI, there is a park switch or circuit that is built into every wiper motor. Apparently, your switch has failed. you must replace the entire motor(wiper) in this case.

There should be a circuit breaker which shuts down the wipers when they are frozen. Sounds like the breaker didn't do its job and the wiper motor fried. My guess is it needs replacing.
