The sensor is bolted to the frame, all you do is remove the bolt and then unplug the connector and out it comes, also make sure to disconnect the neg terminal of the battery and wait 5 min before starting this is to deinergize the air ignitor to avoid a flase deployment of air bags.

  • a/c heater control - removal

warning: disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. this is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. failure to take the proper precautions could result in an accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury or death.

note: single zone a/c-heater control shown. dual zone similar.

  1. disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

  2. remove the center bezel (1) from the instrument panel and disconnect the wire harness connectors (4 and 5) from the back of the a/c-heater control (2) see: body and frameinterior moulding / trimdashboard / instrument panelservice and repairinstrument panel center bezel - removal .

note: take the proper precautions to protect the front face of the center bezel from cosmetic damage.

  1. place the center bezel on a workbench and remove the four screws (3) that secure the a/c-heater control to the center bezel and remove the control.

note: single zone a/c-heater control shown. dual zone similar.

  1. position the a/c-heater control (2) into the back of the instrument panel center bezel (1).

  2. install the four screws (3) that secure the a/c-heater control to the center bezel. tighten the screws to 2.2 nm (20 in. lbs.).

  3. connect the wire harness connectors (4 and 5) to the back of the a/c-heater control and install the instrument panel center bezel see: body and frameinterior moulding / trimdashboard / instrument panelservice and repairinstrument panel center bezel - installation .

  4. reconnect the negative battery cable.

assuming this is the correct application for your vehicle, you should be good to go. let me know if you need further assistance.

Icon under the airbag icon lights up now and then, what is it?

You may gave a collision sensor somewhere that is in the process of going out. If you have access to an OBDC reader that also detects airbag functions you can easily determine which one.

Getting a replacement for it is a different animal, though.

00/01 Pontiac Bonneville. How do we get off the steering wheel?

Get a repair manual such as Haynes or Chiltons at a auto parts store to walk you through. Once you get the horn button off you will need a steering wheel puller. They sell them too.
I hope my suggestions helps and all the luck to you.

I need to replace the multi-function wiper switch on a 2003 Chev express van, what type of screw driver is needed to remove the steering column housing that contains the switch?

the switch is underneath the steering wheel. the steering wheel needs to be pulled to replace the switch. the airbag is in the steering wheel, and a trained tech with a puller is needed to pull that wheel off without screwing up the airbag.
