Question about 1997 Oldsmobile 88

1 Answer

1997 Olds ** watr leaking into floorboard. By searching all over google- i found a few situations where this car has a "wheel well" problem of throwing water from tire up into wheel well which rots to a degree where it leaks water under back seat then flows down to floor. I recreate the problem by removing back seat-padding-trunk seperator and shooting a hose directly in wheel well with pressure. No obvious holes- just some flaking old metal. How do you solve this ? Is there some type of wheel well cover that can be purchased ?

No, you would need to replace the well but it sounds like this is not the problem, most of these that rott are visible with a light shining from outside in with trunk carpet removed from the sides, i think your problem may be in the front area. try sparing with a water hose, no pressure hose, spray around windsheild and see if it leaks inside, another thing to check is the heater box drain, theres a small hole coming through firewall that comes from the heater box , this drains water from ac and wtare that gets into box and drains it outside, check that to make sure its not plugged. if you notice the water after it rains then its not the heater box but check it anyway.

My 2000 ford crown Victoria. Have water on the rear passenger side floor. What could be the problem

Hey Grady..
There are few things that could cause the water intrusion... Is the carpet in the front floorboard wet?.. ..Has it rained recently? This will rule out window seals leaking? Have you opened the trunk and checked to see if water is in the trunk? OK..IF it has not rained, no water in the trunk, AND the front floorboards are wet, then the heater core is leaking...

Where is the fuse panel on a 97 olds 88 ls

It is located to the left under the steering wheel quite a ways. Took me awhile to locate it, but when I found it, it was very easy to read compared to others I have seen.

Few days ago cavalier decided to empty coolant out of its tank and overheat. we since then took compressor off serpentine belt changed thermostat checked oil for water flushed system checked fan heater...

Water pump. The impeller can come loose from the shaft and not circulate enough coolant. These can throw you off, because when you remove the pump the impeller will be tight against the shaft. It is when they warm up they begin to slip. If the heater core is not leaking don't bypass it.
