Question about Acura Integra

1 Answer

Just bought this car as a project for our son. It was in an accident then left to sit for over a year. The car starts with no problem but is stuck in drive, it won't go into park.

Sounds like your transmission had taken some of the accident. The transmission is probably shot. As today's cars have very complicated transmission and it would be cheaper to get one off a low mile car in a junk yard or a rebuilt. I'll bet there is no fluid in it either.

Had it sitting on a slight downgrade and wouldn't start. my son towed it home on a trailor and now it starts. do i need to replace fuel pump?

It's possible that bouncing on the trailer feed up a stuck pump motor or it might have moved a loose wire. The trick to starting these trucks is to tap on the fuel tank with a rubber or plastic hammer to free up the pump with the key on. A new pump is $300-500 installed, so carrying a non metal hammer with you to see if it does it again might be cheaper, but it will need replaced anyway. I have seen several 98's and 99's in the last year that needed a new pump so the lifespan seems to be about ten years. If you can afford it, it would not be money wasted.

Clutch seems to be seized because bike has been sitting for years

Is the clutch lever sized or is the plates sized?
Usually the plates inside sizes, all you have to do is select gear 2 or 3 without starting the bike's engine, operate the clutch lever and push the bike,it should release, the rear wheel should now rotate freely with clutch lever in operation and in gear.
Hope this helps!

I bought a new starter and in the process my 18 year old son started the project and left it to me to finish. I pulled the starter that was half way installed and checked the wiring. I believe I have it...

there should be 2 big post one is the ground for the starter (the braided wire) the other larger post attach the main wire from the battery then the smaller post or plug attach the smaller wire be careful to make sure none of the wires touch the other

the fuel is bad, check your fuel lines and put new fuel in. fuel does go bad if you leave it sitting too long, next time run your car for 15-30 min once a week to prevent this
