Sounds like a cracked or broken cylinder head gasket, very expensive to fix and not a DIY job

E39 using oil

The oil is either leaking through your head gasket into your coolant or leaking past oil seals or piston rings, check for blue smoke whilst revving engine, and check coolant for oil contamination. check for white sludge in your oil filler cap.

04 dodge stratus has oil light coming on after a while of driving, car will start to make weird sounds and eventually dies, not sure if this is an oil pump problem, or a head gasket problem

sounds like an oil pump issue-but you need to look at your oil, is it white or foamy? If so, you have a dreaded sludge issue with that engine, a common complaint. change the oil, first, if you are going to drove it AT ALL, weither or not it is white or normal looking-

if you are using 5w-30, use 10w-40 and see if that makes the oil light go away. then keep an eye on engine temperature, the appearance of the oil on the dip stick and oil level. If it remains clean and at a normal level and the light still flickers, you should have the sender unit checked or replaced first. if that doesn't solve it you may need a oil pump, and then I am assuming the noise you speak of is a spun crank bearing, then it gets real expensive.

It is because of this that I say change the oil NOW, because if you hear noises, driving it with bad oil will kill the engine sure as anything. If it is foamy after the oil change, it probably is a head gasket, and you need to park it and get it fixed-again, if it is not too far gone (spun bearing, crankshaft or camshaft).

Oil light/noise/oil level good

you could have sludge in the crankcase that is blocking the intake screen for the oil pump ... that happens a lot if oil isnt changed regularly .. in some cars it happens even if you do. ...the clatter you hear is the valve lifters collapsing . they need oil pressure to keep them extended properly ... if your oil pump isnt bad it soon will be .. it needs lub also or it will quickly be damaged ...sometimes you can wash out the sludge with kero/oil mix but the safe thing to do is drop the pan .. clean up the sludge and replace the oil pump.while you are there ...once you have the pump working you can first run cheap oil to clean out things ..then drain and install synthetic ...that will do a better job of cleaning out remaining sludge ... of course make sure you have the proper amount of oil to start with .. make sure there is no water in the oil (milky oil) .. make sure oil filter is not clogged ...some oil filters have a one way valve ... that can stick if the car isnt run for a long time .. ....

Tapping sound in my top cylinder

Unplug the spark plug wire to the cylinder that seems to be close to the noise. If after unplugging the correct cylinder if the noise stops, you have internal damage that will need repaired.

Bmw 323 'r' reg e36 engine oil light flashing

your oil pressure switch is a great place to start. since the oil was really thick you could have a horrible oil sludge problem. about 50-100 miles before your next oil change take a bottle of Transmission Fluid and dump in with your oil. and Drive for the remaning 50-100 miles with the Trany fluid still in the oil. The Transmission Fluid is a great Cleaner for sludge.
hope this helped you
