Hi :) If you have a warp head and any hot gases from the pistons are being pushed back in the water jacket of the engine the engine will not get any water there to cool the cylinder wall this will over heat the engine and the only thing you can do is a head gasket change and check the heads and replace if necessary.

98 ford ranger no heat have changed thermostat water pump heater control valve


Maybe the heater core is plugged or you haven't bled it properly?
If the heater hose returning from the core to the water pump is NOT hot, while the hose going to the heater core from the thermostat area IS hot, then the heater core is plugged probably.
You need to remove the heater hose while cool,from the thermostat area and remove the hose from the water pump area (that's the outlet of the flow thru heater core) AND THEN take a garden hose with p-is-tol grip type sprayer,and blow water back thru the outlet hose out the inlet hose. This will blow any bad plugging material out the way it got in.
Don't apply too much pressure if it is plugged bad. The heater core isn't made to stand 50lbs. water pressure. don-ohio (:^)

I changed the thermostat but it still does not heat up what else could be wrong


Heater needs Heater Core, Heater control valve, air diverter inside the car and hot water in the heater core. If you just change the thermostat you must have had a reason. If the car was running hot it could be a radiator clog. If the core is clogged no heat. If the heater core was drained when you changed the Tstat there may be air in it - if so no heat. If the control valve (on the heater hose) does not shift- no heat. If the diverter door in under the dash does not direct the fan air through the heater core- no heat.

95 Fleetwood Cadillac no heat changed water pump and thermostat. The heater core is not bypassed and car stays defrosted help me see why no heat is blowing out. The fan works but no heat


Sounds like a air lock in interior heater core, remove one heater hose under hood and make sure you have flow through heater core. Some vehicles have a valve that controls coolant flow through heater, check on hose for that if no coolant comming out of inter heater hoses.

What does that prove?

No heat coming out and van overheating


It could be the thermostat or the water pump. Even if your heater core were plugged, the engine would not overheat from it, you would just have no heat. And if the thermostat were stuck closed, but the heater core was good, you would still get heat from heater while the engine was overheating. So it kind of points toward the water pump, unless neglect had allowed both the heater core to plug and the thermostat to stick closed. I mean neglect from not regularly changing the coolant every two years about.
Overheating can be as simple as a low coolant level, so you should check that, and check for leaks.
Before you go for the cost to replace the water pump, you should first have the system pressure tested, or have a compression test done to check the internal condition of the engine and to make sure you don't have a blown head gasket. Good luck.

I had the water pump replaced. Is there a relay or a valve that controls the heater, or would a thermostat control it???


i didn't see you last posting about your water pump but theres is a tiny radiator called a heater core. it has the same hot water running through it as your big radiator and engine have.so when you turn your thermostat to hot and kick on the fan the fan blows through the heater core and wallaa you have heat you probably need a thermostat.if you have no heat and it is overheating hear and there that's probably what you need.make sure you see if you filled the radiator up all the way when you changed the water pump.

1989 Ford Escort GT overheating


Sounds like to me it would be your water pump before a heater core. When the water pump goes out, it stops pumping the coolant through the system which is what would cause it to still overheat even with the thermostat out. NO HEAT


Your heating system is run by your cooling system. If your cooliant is low then you are not going to get adiquiate heat disapation to your heater core. So check the entire cooling systerm. Your water pump (low flow), hoses (leakage), you already checked the thermostat & heater core. So other than that I don't know.

check thermostat and water pump.the water pump could be working good enough to ke the engine cool but dosnt have the pressure to push it thru. i ran in to this prob be for no heat and the engine didnt over heat. the antifreeze ate the blades off the water pump. it was crazy.
