If you have the 2.4lL DOHC 5cyl. it cost around $60.00 with out the gasket. The turbo model 2.3L is the same price. These are after market prices from a local auto part supplier. OEM replacement willl most likely be more. Hope this helps.

Water leaks

water pumps have a drain hole on the bottom next to the block and it is there to allow water that has passed a faulty seal to leak out before it damages the bearing.. Pull the water pump and if that is the case replace it with a new item as it is more expensive to repair than to replace.

Is there any breathing hole for the water pump

Yes there is. It is on the underside of the water pump and will leak water when the water pump seal has failed. Then it is time to replace the pump as repair is more expensive than replace

Im over heating bad

Hi Jillian,
Assuming it is not related to improper servicing, it could simply be a LOW coolant level, stuck thermostat, loose/failed drive belt or a failed water pump. The ease & expense of repair increases from minimal amount for low coolant level to the most costly being the failed water pump. There are other possible causes including clogged radiator, hose, etc. but those problems don't happen as frequently as those I listed.
Reghardless of cause, you should NOT drive the vehicle while in an overheated condition as this can cause a *very* expensive engine repair.
Good luck!

Water pump problems

They don't pay for repairs on 10 year old vehicles, and I agree with them.

How much dose water pump cost

Call your Dealer or local Auto parts store. Labor cost is probably the bigger expense in this repair.

Also, the water pump may run off the timing belt/serpentine belt. That should be replaced if needed.

2000 9-5 wagon 2.3L turbo. trouble light comes on and engine temp gauge goes high after about 5 miles of driving (winter with heat on). coolant level full; overflow tank backing up. could it be stuck...

For the amount of money it will cost it would be worth changing the thermostat anyway. They aren't very expensive and reasonably easy to repair.
Water pump replacements are more expensive AND more work. Try the cheaper one first as thermostats are known to wear out.
If the overflow tank is backing up it will be because the safety valve built into the water pump is diverting built up pressure.

I need a engine pump put on my car

oil pump? water pump? Air cond pump? what are you asking? If you have the tools and some experience then i say go to local parts store and get a $25.00 repair manual and have at it. If any thing else take it to a repair shop. Dealerships are expensive, a repair shop will be 1/2 the cost. check for pricing and best of luck to you. the water pump is not that bad although it is done from underneath the car. Experienced mech 2-4 hours, average person with some idea of what to do 4-6 hrs. person with no experience 1 - 2 days and maybe not at all.

Was leaking water just filled it drove maybe 2 miles had loss of power pulled over to put in more water car died would not start back up

Sounds like you have a bad head gasket or even a cracked head. If it died and was very hot you may have trashed the motor. either way it is going to be an expensive repair. Check for leaks at water pump and hoses. you might get lucky and just need a new hose or water pump, radiator ect.

Water Pump Leaking??

yes it is a very expensive repair, they (whom ever they are) may have seen a coolant stain on the area around below the pump under the car, if it goes it can overheat and cause serious engine damage very quickly. have u been under the car to look?
