There is a schematic in the Factory Repair Manual for this transmission. I repaired mine approximately 5 years ago, it was an easy thrust washer. I was able to find a tranny shop that had a used tranny for parts, because you can't buy any parts for these. I could not even cross reference the bearings.

99 grand prix making noise and cut my engine off while driving

as the knock get louder with acceleration, it indicates a bearing or camshaft lobe problem
you will have to check the history of the engine or the rebuild of the engine

Whats torque spec on front axle nut 2002 grand Am

284 ft-lbs. I dont remember the years but there is an updated wheel bearing form some suppliers. These will have an updated torque spec. If there was not a not in the box for the new bearing than 284 is the number. The updated bearing is 173 ft-lbs. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. My son has a 99 Pontiac Grand Prix, when he's driving it, it's making a knocking noise on the passenger side by the tire. Could it be a suspension or bearing issue?

Try turning the wheel and seeing if the knocking noise gets worse or better.Usually when you get a knocking like that or a clicking when your turning, you need to replace the CV shaft on that side.Sometimes a wheel bearing will make a click but if you jack up the car and can hold the wheel from top to bottom and can wiggle it and feel alot of movement that is the wheel bearing but it is probably the CV shaft making that knocking noise.Good luck

GEprofile washing machine makes noise spinning, washes good

Well I'm not sure what it has to do with a 1997 Grand Prix but, you have a bad spin bearing on the bottom of the washer transmission. The bottom tub seals tend to leak and water runs into the bearing.

Are the rear brake caliper pistons on a 1991 pontiac grand prix compressed with a c-clamp type tool or do they need to be rotated back in to bottom them out?

are they smooth faced? if so a C-Clamp/if they have some indentations in the face you need to screw these in with a homemade tool or for about $15 get a multi-purpose tool for many different vehichle brake piston types

Tranny just stopped working 93 grand prix

Usually when this totally meltdown occurs and the fluid level is ok, its because of torque converter failure. i would rebuild asap if possible. its time for a new transmission. there may be a clog in the tranny filter but, i doubt it. this is usually a sign of massive gear damage and torque converter issues. i recommend a total rebuild

Rebuild All or just Fix Heads

it is best to rebuild the whole thing, just the heads will put more pressure on the bottom end ,with that many miles and start leaks and could lead to bearings going out, it did happen to me in the past and a hard way to learn
