Re: Radio goes off when you go over a bump then comes...
You may have a loose positive or negative connection going to the stereo. I would say the likely source of the problem is the positive lead going to the stereo. Hope this helps.

check for loose wires on the alternator and battery. check for loose earth wires. If a bump is causing the problem then there is something loose some where so check all connections including the connections to the ecm
Hello, my name is Ben. Everyone seems to be looking at the wiring going to the radio. I believe your problem is the actual radio. You have something loose inside the radio. I think you are probably going to need a new radio to solve this problem.
I suspect the problem is with one of the radio circuit boards, but check the connector at the bqack of the radio first, if that is clean and tight then the radio will need to be sent out for repair.
Well the radio code is an anti-theft issue. you have to take it to the dealership and they get your VIN number and they will retrieve the serial number to your radio. With that they can look up your code. It will cost at least $75 dollars.
Make sure they connect it back up correctly because then if you live in climates that reach under 20 degrees your radio will shut off. or when hit a bump in the winter your radio will shut off and you have to enter the code everytime it goes off.
I have an '01 montero sport XLS. Battery died and I had to experience this the hard way.
