SOURCE: need to know the timing marks on 1992 toyota

you may find them online but if it were me i would go to local auto parts and spend the $24.95 on a haynes repair manual it has pictures of the marks and the tension specs etc worth the $$ , remove #12 spark plug and take a peice of wire stick it into the hole till it touchs the piston then rotate the crankshaft till its a top dead center then look down at the line up marks behind the crank gear they should line up then rotate the camshaft till marks line up should be 12 oclock on cam gear? this is sometimes tricky to get it lined up without it being 1 tooth off thats why picture is best ? hope this helps

If your engine is running after you changed the timing belt then you need a timing light to adjust timing at this point. The specifications should be on the emission sticker under the hood. Hope this helps.

I broke my timing belt on a 1994 mightymax and want to know if i can just put new belt on or did i bend valves

no they dont clear they hit the piston. it all depends on how fast the engine was running to how much damage has been done. sometimes it can just be a bent valve. or a set of them. or at worst the pistons are damaged. on some occasions it would just be a auto adjuster damaged you will not be able to tell till the new belt is fitted. will tap alot.

I have a 1993 Mitsubishi Mightymax 2.4 L4 and i just replaced the timing belt. I need a diagram or something of the sort to adjust the timing, as i have already done by ear but isn't completely...

if you done it by ear --ie turning the distributor then you are not far out akthough a professional mechanic might get it a bit better i mean by this a old school mechanic but if your in doubt then use a timing light and set timing to to about 6 to 8 degrees before TDC depending on the compression ratio and fuel used ,an old GT type engine can be as high as 12 or 16? running on 101 octane fuel but a newer vehicle running on 91 unleaded will be around 6? maybe even 4? ,The octane rating is the amount of additive used to prevent pre detonation of the fuel but certain refineries sell this low grade low octane fuel that isnt of the same standard and the flame rate when it burns is a lot lower and also the carbon it produces when it burns is greater .no if it sounds ok and doesnt pink or overheat then leave well alone

How to replace water pump in a 1992 mitsubishi galant

All Mitsubishi cars pretty much hide the water pump under the timing belt. You should buy all new belts for the car and consider replacing the water pump at the same time. You will have to take off the power steering belt, the alternator belt, the upper belt cover, support the motor, take off the motor mount, jack up the right front corner of the car, take off the front right tire, take off the engine plastic under cover, line up the TDC timing mark, Take off the front wheel ,take off the plastic splash cover, using an air wrench take off the lower pulleys, take off the lower engine cover, observe the timing marks/arrows and highlight with paint (on the crankshaft, counter balancer shaft , and cam shaft),take off the timing belt, counter balancer belt if there is one, water pump belt, and now you can unbolt the water pump, scrape the gasket, and replace it. Now the good news, if you have tools,a compressor, an air gun(for lower pulley bolt), patience , and four to eight hours to kill, you can actually do it your self.

My sister has a mitsubishi expo 1993 and the time belt got destroy my nephew toke it a part and now we don't know how to put it back can you tell me how thanks

you may have damaged your valves when the belt broke.
You will need to find ou the timing marks for the cam gear or gears as well as the timing mark for the crankshaft because if they are not lined up properly it will not start and if it does you could do damage to your valves if they arent already damaged

Timing belt

  • IF your doing your own timing belt, you need to get a Chilton's Repair manual on your particular car, it has the information you need. If you have never done one before, I suggest taking it to a shop, as you can cause severe engine damage if you do NOT get the timing belt on in the correct place.... what can happen is you can cause your engine valves to get bent because you didn't get it timed correctly. This problem happens alot with novices trying to repair timing issues and dont' know what they are doing.
