Question about Oldsmobile Silhouette

1 Answer

A few months ago, my 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette ext. overhead driver information panel display quit working. For a week or so, the display was intermittant (sometimes on, sometimes nothing, sometimes the display was dim and/or fading). Since then, the display has been non-existant. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The capacitor in the displays circuit has finally gave out. A used replacement from a wrecking yard is the best replacement at the lowest cost

Where is the turn signal flasher located on a 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette

Your best chance is in the user manual. It does tell you.
The typical place is up under the drivers side kick panel area just behind the panel in front of the drivers knees, but yours is a normal looking relay that may be mounted in a box of relays, possibly on the passengers side or anywhere under the hood To zero in on that or the 4-way hazard flasher is to be in a VERY quite spot and turn on the 4 way hazards and listen.
Obviously the key needs to be on for the signal indicator to work so you must have someone hold the switch in the door so the key/ignition beeper & overhead light doesn't work.

Car won't start had issue a few months ago, again same issue sounds like it wants to start, unhooked battery, for a day, tried other keys, won't start. Mechanic still not sure why, everything checks out,...

it's a no spark or no fuel problem. do you hear the fuel pump humming when you turn key to on position? if you do then pumps working. have you pulled a plug wire off engine and put a screw driver in wire and grounded to motor while turning engine over to see if it's getting any spark? have you checked all the fuses under the hood in the black box? i hope this helps!!

Rear window wiper works for a few days or weeks

Check the plug is completely plugged into the motor. Maybe a bad connection in the motor itself. Also check the switch, try wiggling it when turning on.

Replacing mirror on 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette

you'll need to remove your door panel (screws are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door) and remove the cover adjacent to your mirror to remove the bolts to remove the mirror.

The only thing the items have in common, the G200 ground. I would check the ground attachment to the body, should be located on the driver side under the kick panel trim around the door jam area.
Take a look and let me know.

check for a override switch. it is typically located near the headlight switch. That may have been hit by accident causing them not to work
