Question about 1986 Chevrolet Chevy

2 Answers

I have a 1986 chevy silverado truck with a 305 engine. My temp guage don't work. I know it's a sensor on top on the motor and one between spark plug 1 and 2 on the driver side of the motor. What is that sensor called between spark plug 1 and 2 on driver side?

What is the one between spark plug 1 and 2 called? When I go to auto parts store the only one they pull up is the one on top of the motor beside carb.

Would like to install an aftermarket temp guage in my '93 gm g20 van. it has 2 sensor location. i don't know which to use. can u help. thanks

The sensor on the drivers side of motor, between the first 2 spark plugs on that side is the temp.sensor for gauge or lamp. The sensor on top of motor is a temp sensor for computer only. So you need to use single wire sensor on left side of motor. Left side is drivers side. It's between the first 2 plugs. Again, single wire sensor.

1986 cj7 with 1996 inline6 motor water temp.has 2 wires 1986 has 1 wire please help

The 96 uses a temp sensor for the computer to inform it of the temperature. This 2 wire sensor does not control the temp guage. The 86 has a single wire sensor because it controls the guage only

Jaguar 2002 x-type won't start

have you scanned the vehicle? check the inertia switch on the passeneger side kickpanel..also make sure your fuel pump is working, also check for spark by pulling the the plug and leaving it plugged into coil, have someone turn the engine over confirming the spark. Also make sure the cam sensors located to the top front of the engine are signaling, last but not least make sure the coolant temp sensor is working. If its bad, you can unplug it then try starting the car,,if it cranks then the sensor is bad, and the temp guage will spike immediated until the new sensor is installed.

Correct spark plug wiring diagram

Firing order for a 305 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The distributor turns counter clockwise and #1 should be the 5 o'clock position looking down at the top of the distributor.

1998 chevy k1500 vortec 305, high idle, surges a lil bit, new plugs cap and rotor, coolant temp sensor, any suggestions, bad tps cause this, or intake leak confused help, love the truck, runs rich i can...

TPS probably not cause surging idle. Could be IAC motor, could be MAF sensor. If you dont have a check engine light I would be thinking IAC motor.

Oil guage fluctuates at low rpm-2002 chev. silverado. Repair program says unit is on oil pan. Chevy says its on top of motor behind intake manifold.

I believe the sensor in the pan is for the low oil level sensor. The oil pressure sensor is at the back of the engine, by the intake manifold, towards the passenger side.
