One. Unless you have installed a dual exhaust system in which case there should be one for each bank.

I have a 2003 trailblazer with 4.2 engine. Losing power when driving especially when going up hill (even small hill). Will drop down to 15 mph. got a code of p0172. Replaced O2 sensor and the...

Yes , it is more then likely the Catalytic converter is clogged ! Pull the O2 sensor before the Cat an do a back pressure test ! Testing for plugged clogged restricted exhaust converter An your P0172 means you have a rich condition , does not mean O2 sensor is bad ! Do you have 4.3 L vortex ? Could be bad fuel pressure regulator leaking ! caused your cat to have a melt down an starting to plug ! 4.3L or 5.0L vortex engines . with spider injectors ! chevy vortec p0172 p0175 So you have two problems ! Hope this helps !

Reduced Engine Power light, rough idle

Hello TMAF...

TRIED most of that TOO...

Finally my codes... said the OXYGEN SENSORS were complaining... OBD... DTC
(on-board-diagnostic... DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES)

So... of course I changed the... OXYGEN SENSORS.

The "NEW" OXYGEN SENSORS complained just as well...

I have subsequently learned the "SENSORS" are
just doing their job...

In my case reporting on a collapsed catalytic converter.
(muffler is actually a MORE common blockage).

A little hunting around... like Auto-Zone ... Napa auto...
Pep-boys... O'Reilly Auto Parts... even MIDAS might
yield FREE READINGs... (check around).

Just remember to wear your best SALES RESISTANCE...

and look up you prices on ROCKAUTO...
before you go... Hope this helps.

(Unless FREE, I'd make a SPECIAL note (YELP) on
that "shop"... THEY ARE CLOWNS...!!
(in my humble opinion... not MECHANICS)).

My 2003 Chevy Trailblazer suddenly started running rough and stalling, It smelled like fireworks.

1st things first, clean your throttle body. Also, that smell is concerning, have a muffler shop do a back pressure test on the Catalytic converter.

I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with a malfunctioning tachometer and speedometer. What is the likely part I need to replace?

Sounds like a bad speedometer sensor. Usually located on the transmission. The only way to fix the speedometer is to replace the sensor.
The Variable Speed Sensor (VSS) has failed. You will have to get it replaced. Both are driven by an electrical signal sent to the cars computer by the VSS, and converted to SPEED, and DISTANCE driven.

Is it true that I will need to order a manufacturers catalytic converter for my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer EXT with a V-8? Also are there two converters on my vehicle and that if one is damaged and needs...

You can use an aftermarket catalytic converter.
If one is damaged, the other does not need to be replaced.
I would seriously get another estimate somewhere else. I don't know your area but that seems very high for replacing one catalytic converter. That might be reasonable for two.

Im getting a sulphur smell and my trailblazer is runing rough and dying occasionally . it only has about 63000 miles so i i was wondering if it might be the cat converter ? or something else . i thought...

It shouldn't be the converter, more like an oxygen sensor. That is what is making the sulfur smell. To get closer to the problem take it to the parts store where they have a scanner and see what comes up. It is probably an easy fix. Hope this helps.

2001 Nissan Maxima loses power at 40 MPH.

Fuel pump is not pumping hard enough anymore. Have a mechanic check the pressure. Either pump is bad or the fuels filter is clogged. One other thing that causes this is a clogged Calalytic Converter.
