I have the same problem.  Pressing the reset button on the dash will allow you to bring up voltmeter.  Mine was showing about 11.7-11.8 volts no matter if I was idle, accelerating, or cruising; A/C and radio on or off.  A couple of miles later, it dropped to 11.5 and then the "Battery Saver Activated" message came up.  Great timing: the day before Labor Day!

I had this similar problem then my serpentine belt busted. My idler pulley froze and busted the belt while driving on the interstate. That means no power steering. The belt was in excellent shape except for where it snapped due to the bad pulley

Did they check the alternator too ? The warning light means the alternator is not charging the battery.

My Honda 2009 2.0LX2009 model has charging system indicator light flashing. I have changed the battery and alternator but the problem persists

I'm not understanding what you are saying.
The battery should have a rating of at least 500 amps or more.
That is the cranking amps at zero degrees which has nothing to do with the warning light.
The light comes on when the alternator is not charging the battery. So if the light is on something is keeping the alternator from charging, or from the extra voltage from reaching the battery.
You would need to have the charging system tested by a shop with the necessary equipment. And probably not by the shop you are using now.

My battery light comes on and goes off while im driving

The battery light is coming on due to either a defective Alternator voltage regulator Diode (built into the alternator) or to a wiring connector problem at the Alternator. When the charging system voltage drops below the battery voltage the battery warning light will come on, this is not a Battery problem as many think, it is a charging system issue as stated above, the main component of the charging system is the Alternator..

88 Izusu Trooper II with 274000 miles Battery warning light comes on when first starting and running- after driving awhile, it goes off and starts charging- also during the warning period- the blower

Sounds like your battery isn't charging properly, first thing to check, is your alternator belt slipping, is it tight enough, if so does it need replacing?

Next the battery, if its over 2 years old it could be on its way out. Does it hold its charge?

Finally, Alternator, is it still providing a charge for the battery? Are all electrical connections good and clean?

"battery no charge" warning light comes on

Hello: The belt may be slipping, (check it for excessive grease/oil) or the alternator may have failed. A parts store can check the alternator nd they may not charge you.

Cold weather, turn on ignition and all lights very dim. I drove a mile or 2 and then check engine, ABS, and another warning light came on. Car died. We jumped it but it won't keep the charge and continues...

Sounds like a bad alternator, engine will only run till battery goes weak, due to alternator not charging system, any auto parts will check your charging system at no charge, hope this was very helpful.

What does it mean when your battery light comes on?

All cars have a battery light on the dashboard that is designed to warn you if the recharging system fails. A simple circuit looks at the voltage that the alternator is producing, and turns the battery light on if it is low. The battery light indicates a battery charging problem. If the battery light comes on and stays on while you are driving, the most common cause is a broken alternator belt. Total failure of the alternator is another possibility.

Check charging system light came on

hi, the alternator has a wire from ignition to the alternator called the W L lamp. if this comes up the most common fault is the diode pack or comutator brushes. alternator not charging enough or WARNING LIGHT wire grounding to body of the car. some times the WARNING LIGHT wil be very dim all these usually means your alternator will need replacing. gerry

My lights started going dim on the dash. the voltage kight started comeing on and then the warning sign came on check chargeing system

You need a new alternator. Also check to be sure that your serpentine belt didnt break. The car was not charging the battery (either the belt broke or the alternator is bad) and running entirely off the battery causing the lights to dim and the voltage light and check charging system lights to come on. Good luck to you. Thanks for using fixya!

Sincerely,

JC
