The ASR is the Anti-Slip Regulator which is basically Volkswagons version of Anti-Lock Brakes.

My dash lights and gages are not working and my night driving lights are not working either... do i need a new cluster

If you mean the parking lights, they are not affected by the cluster.
The gauges are on one fuse, the dash lights are on another, and the parking lights on a third circuit.
I would check for power at the fuses then headlight switch for the lighting problems. And for voltage at the fuse and the connector on the back of the cluster for the gauges problem.

no just the trim face is push on (snaped in place)
intument panel just preesed straight in
have your gage failled if so
there is a TSB on certain mode years dash
(kinda gm recall) if it failled take it to them
it may be covered and they will install new cluster assembly

Change dash lights on 1994 Toyota pickup

You have to pull the dash out completely. Start with the gages look up at the over hang you should see 2 holes there's going to be 2 scews there. then look down under you stearing wheel you will need a phillips screw driver and a 10 mm socket with ratchent to take everthing off. Yoou may even
have to take the stearing colum cover to get the gage master out. there is going to be 3 wire closter
push the tab down with your hand and pull them out and then pull the speed cable out. when you get to this point you should see where the lights go in the gage cluster.

No spark to plugs, oil pressure light on, engine died

Is your dash cluster working? If not this will cause the problem. The gas gage, temp gage, odometer, and transmission shift indicator will not light up. Give the dash a hard thump above the cluster this may or may not temporarily fix the problem.

Instrument panel

remove instrument cluster, 2-3 bolts under top of cluster bezel to dash, remove lenze , pull cluster to side and unplug - center bulb burned out, replace and reassemble. Gauge, check that harness is fully pluged into temp sending unit usely on intake manifold. most likely bad connection or bad sending unit. unit is much cheeper than getting checked at shop, where they will probly start with changing unit and charging you and then look further if needed.

Passat 200, intermittently break/ABS/ASR/STOP lights come ON

Try carefully topping up the brake fluid, this can happen when the level falls as the pads wear down especially when cornering

Asr problem

MB has ASR,  VW now has ESP.  You posted in Jetta TDI, but say you have a SL600.   Both are slip/traction control programs and both can be manually overridden by dashboard button.  When the ASR or ESP is locked out, the light will be on all the time, maybe you can just push the button?   When driving, if this light flashes on, then ASR/ESP is trying to help get the wheel that is spinning not to.

If the light came on after replacing parts, or a repair job,  something may be wrong with the parts (non OEM), the service or a sensor may have been damaged.

Check with dealer for a recall for your vehicle on brake switch ... vw had a recall on these around 2002-2005.

Temp gage, fuel gage and dash lights out

You need the voltage regulator for the fuel/temp gauge. The cluster has to be removed to change it and while your in there change out the illumination bulbs and that should take car of your lighting issue. I have enclosed a link for the regulator (I found this online, it is not my own). Just copy and paste it to your address bar.
